Pachypodium saundersii, the kudu lily, is a succulent plant of the family Apocynaceae. It was named in honour of Sir Charles James Renault Saunders (1857–1931), the Natal Province civil servant and casual plant collector.

It is found naturally in Southern Africa, on the Lebombo Mountains and other areas in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Eswatini (Swaziland).

It is usually a small, shrubby bush, but can grow up to 1.5m tall. The plant is covered in paired, sharp thorns, and dark green shiny leaves, and it flowers annually producing masses of white flowers that have a pinkish/purplish tinge to them.

discovering what is hidden in an old book

When summer comes, the mountains here are usually moist and misty in the afternoon.

Have a nice weekend my friends. The Covid-19 seems to never subside even in such hot days. Take care and stay healthy.

Thanks for the comments and faves

...waiting for spring...

... but ice crystals in March

A small but beautiful wonder of nature, which I recently discovered on a walk with my faithful dog Roco. It was in a forest near our house, when I was allowed to photograph this small work of art at the beginning of March. That's right, it was neither January nor February, no, it was already in the first month of spring in March. Throughout the winter, I looked for these beautiful works of nature and found nothing, because it was just too warm for that, or the air too dry for ice formation.

I am so thankful to be able to present you this icy pearl of nature here, because it makes me so happy to be in nature and to be able to capture the little things of life with my camera. I wish this joy for all my dear friends here. You who have carried me through a difficult time for me with all your love and patience. I thank you so much for it and would like to give you back a little of this love with my photography. Thank you so much my dear friends. I wish all of you warmer days with new life and happiness. Enjoy the first time of spring.

...be happy, spring is coming soon !!!!
