Bonnie Bartlett and William Daniels during a panel on Friday at the 2023 Planet Comicon in Kansas City, Missouri on March 17, 2023.
Previously on The Great Escape: Escaped prisoner Jeri Gonza, aka Scar, still claiming innocence for a previous murder conviction, has surrendered to the Lilliput Police and is being held at the LPS mental health unit. She is currently being interviewed by DS RB Latte and Sgt Danbo in the presence of her new lawyer, Saul Goodman.
DS Latte: So we're going with the diminished capacity ruse to avoid returning to the big house, huh? Talking plants? Well, that's original, anyway.
Scar: It's no ruse. I mean, I don't know if I have diminished capacity but I can't remember things. And the plant can talk. Sgt Danbo heard him.
Sgt Danbo: Yeah, right.
Saul: My client is officially under the care of a psychiatrist and cannot be held responsible for any comments made in this interview. We've agreed to the meeting in the spirit of cooperation with your investigation.
DS Latte: I'm sorry I wasn't here when you arrived. I'd love to have interviewed you on arrival before this veil of protection descended. I'm still not sure why you turned yourself in. You're here, though, where you belong. Right now I'm looking for information about the other fugitives. Where are they?
Scar: I turned myself in because Sgt Danbo said it would be better if I did.
Sgt Danbo: See what I mean, Rox? She's really confused. And you would have been here if you and DI Deadbeat weren't off on another one of your weekends.
DS Latte: Shut up, Dan. Now where are the alien and the angel, Ms Gonza?
Scar: Please call me Scar. I don't know where they are.
DS Latte: It says that you were previously in a barn and that's where you found the talking plant. It was growing out of some loose straw and you put it in a flowerpot you found. You decided to surrender. Why didn't all of you come in?
Scar: Chester is not like the rest of us. He needs things he can't get in prison and his natural instincts and reactions are potentially dangerous to the other prisoners. He doesn't want to hurt anyone but he's afraid he might if he comes back. He didn't try to escape. None of us did. As I told Sgt Danbo, we were caught up in a freak storm. Chester broke the law by behaving true to his own character and design. Those laws were not meant for him. He said Karma freed him and he would not turn his back on her.
DS Latte: How poetic. Did he say anything that would help us find him?
Scar: He was pretty cryptic most of the time. He never even talked about his home world. Sorry.
DS Latte: And the angel?
Scar: He was thinking about coming back with me. I'm not sure what happened there. He was with me and BG then he wasn't.
DS Latte: BG?
Scar: Baby Groot. The plant as you keep calling him. Look, I'm not trying to be difficult. I'd help you if I could.
DS Latte: OK. There's not much else I can ask. Oh, there is one thing.
Scar: And that is?
DS Latte: How did you get that braid like that? You don't have a mirror in your cell. It's magnificent.
Scar: Oh, thank you. It's been a nightmare trying to keep it tidy without my products and tools. BG helped me with it.
DS Latte: The plant did your hair? Oh, come on. We're back to the insanity thing. This interview is over.
Episode 35 of The Great Escape
A kinda heartbreaking alternate.
We haven't seen what Kim and Jimmy had, but they're interactions hint sadly and wonderfully at so much.
I do really like this one for its pulpy feel. It feels like the proper noir-y "other way to go" when compared to the body in the alley image: the dame. Right?
(March 15, 2015.)
Some crazy talk conjecturizing on Kim and Jimmy's past…

Arriving early next month is AMC’s spinoff – or rather prequel – to their acclaimed series BREAKING BAD. Creator Vince Gilligan recruited the great Bob Odenkirk to reprise his memorable (if slightly sleazy) role as the crooked lawyer Saul Goodman in the upcoming BETTER CALL SAUL wh...
