Better Call Saul...
On a drive through Caledon almost exactly a year ago, I was shooting out the window at the passing farms..( I am the passenger not the driver)
This sign on the east side of highway 10 caught my eye, framed in by this incredibly beautiful streaky blue and white sky

Marijuana dispensary defends against road work on west Central Ave., Route 66, in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Location: Breaking Bud Dispensary, 8715 Central Ave NW 8:11am
A closer look at the front door can be viewed here.
Another connection to the Breaking Bad universe: In Better Caul Saul episode "Axe and Grind" (Season 6 Episode 6: heh. "66" ), it's about three miles uphill at a spot clearly visible from here, that Kim Wexler makes a fateful U-turn bailing on her trip to an important meeting in Santa Fe, in favor of dealing with a her and (future-Saul) Jimmy's plot to set up their colleague, Howard.
—Never mind that the actual road here heads west out of 'Burque toward Gallup at Nine Mile Hill, rather than being on some route going north to Santa Fe.

Went to visit one of the lesser-known Breaking Bad Universe film locations, a laundromat, and discovered it had burnt up last month.
↭photographed through a smoke-streaked front window↭
A shot featuring neighborhood sentiment is here.
The property was built in 1948 and burned on February 17, 2024. So it stood for 76 years. The owner has said he'll rebuild.
When I first moved to 'Burque in 1988, this was a 24-hour laundromat. I lived a few blocks away (in a building at another BB location!) and did my clothes here for a decade. I hadn't been back in years by the time it became a Wash Tub in 2003.

Customers peruse the menu at the famed Breaking Bad (BB) and Better Call Saul (BCS) filming location – a real 57-year-old Route 66 hot dog joint – in Albuquerque, New Mexico
The place has never had the outdoor wooden picnic tables seen in the Breaking Bad Universe, which were added for filming. For views of the interior (never shown in BB or BCS), click here or here.
"Drive-in" does NOT mean "drive-THRU" at the Dog House – there are no drive-up or service windows. But park anywhere and a nice car-hop will come take your order. Or, you can go inside and order in the tiny cabin of a dining room, where there are five tables around the walls and a handful of brightly-colored stools at a short counter fronting the kitchen.

Mexican ice cream shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico that appeared as baddie character Hector Salamanca's lair 'El Griego Guiñador' in 5 episodes of the 'Breaking Bad' series, Better Call Saul.
Location: 6500 Zuni Rd SE, 7:34pm
Mexican paleterías or ice cream shops everywhere are called "Michoacana," but the Better Call Saul incarnation as "El Griego Guiñador" ('The Winking Greek') was in canon named by Hector Salamanca in honor of the character Don Eladio, after the Greek amulet against the evil eye (little good it did him!) the Don always wears.

2x06 Bali Ha'i
2x07 Inflatable
2x08 Fifi
2x09 Nailed

Paquimé is an ancient regional trade and cultural center that flourished in the 14th-15th centuries at present-day Casas Grandes in the northern México state of Chihuahua, just south of the present-day US state of New Mexico. It had significant exchange with the American Southwest's Pueblo peoples. Excavated Paquimé is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Detail from some kind of (maybe drainage-related?) installation at Nine Mile Hill on Central Avenue SW/Route 66 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Breaking Bad universe: Part of the ambiguous installation full of yellow posts seen at the end of Better Caul Saul Season 6 Episode 6 "Axe and Grind," that Kim Wexler drives toward as she makes a fateful U-turn.
Just a fun adaptation of the opening credits of the fantastic series, "Better Call Saul".

Painterly rendering of the modest dining room at the Dog House Drive-In, where the exterior is a locally-famous Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul filming location.
The beloved Route 66 hot dog joint in Albuquerque, New Mexico has been in business since 1967, so the better part of 60 years.
The Dog House's interior never appeared in the Breaking Bad Universe, and the place has never had the outdoor wooden picnic tables that were added for filming. Have a look at the celebrated exterior here.
More of the kitchen may be seen over the counter here.
"Drive-in" does NOT mean "drive-THRU" at the Dog House – there are no drive-up or service windows. But park anywhere and a nice car-hop will come take your order. Or, you can hunt around the east corner of the marquee and find a door leading to this tiny dining room.

Saul: Dr Yubari, I'd like to talk to you about the body that disappeared from your morgue before you had a chance to do the autopsy. Is that a common occurrence?
Dr Yubari: Very unusual. I don't think we've ever had one go missing, though we did send one to a crematorium by mistake. That wasn't the case here. There was no pickup on that day.
Saul: Who brought the body in?
Dr Yubari: An emergency transport vehicle brought it from the scene of the accident. There was no official documentation of the death because the headless body had not been identified. They expected me to do that. It disappeared before I had the chance.
Do you know who reported the accident?
No, I don't have that information. The police should be able to help you there.
Frasier: ...
Thanks, Frasier. You have a good weekend, too.
Saul: He's a quiet one.
Dr Yubari: The porter? I sometimes forget he's speaking telepathically. He's a regular chatterbox sometimes. Very nice and a diligent worker, though maybe not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
