A tall hoodoo bends toward the sun. This rock formation is in the Toadstool area near Highway 89 in Utah. Since it is easy to access it is a popular place to visit. I managed to get this shot with only two people in it. If you zoom in on the left side of the hoodoo you will see them.
The bend in the track is overshadowed by the crazy bend in the mature beech and they bend the same way! Odd! Taken in Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire
Flåmsbanen is said to have been named one of the world's most beautiful train journeys several times. An even bigger experience than Flåmsbanen is cycling Rallervegen. And from Vatnahalsen there are 21 hairpin bends next to the river and the waterfall down Myrdalsberget.
New is a completely sick zipline for those who do not want to cycle down the hill. The zipline is Scandinavia's longest - 1,381 meters, with a maximum speed of up to 100 km / h. Zoom in to the picture to see a person coming down the zipline. I think I would probably take the bike ...
Numerous deceptive bends can prove a challenge on this road when riding a proper motorcycle in a, ahem, spirited manner. As GP will no doubt agree, overcooking the throttle may result in potential hedge/face interface situations that may require a change of underwear.
…….Well at least it should be! The River Severn here winds around in a large ’S’ shape here - the surrounding fields act as a huge flood plain and clearly doing their job currently! The river peaked at Ironbridge last night at 6.6 meters - clearly a town to steer clear off so #054 was taken about 2 miles upstream at Leighton overlooking the popular ’S’ bends or as per today ‘Flood Plain’. Taken on my phone in Apple RAW & edited in Lightroom. Stay safe & steer well clear of flood water. Alan:-)

‘Leighton ’S’ bends’. Well at least there should be! This flood plain is definitely flooded!! There is no sign of the ’S’ bends here, we are supposedly on peak about now BUT there is more rain forecast!!! Commiserations to all those affected. Alan:-0
366 - I’ve decided to do this to force me to pick up a camera other than when we are away on our travels (they will be posted as normal) - I will be interested to see what transpires, they will be varied I’m sure so we’ll see where inspiration takes me over the course of the year, hopefully at the end of it I will be a better photographer. Feel free to critique as you see fit, but please don’t feel obliged, I anticipate they will not be to all tastes. Have a great year and if you also have embarked on a 365 project then good luck in seeing it through, Alan:-)

The nodding oxeye bends before the wind,
The woodbine quakes lest boys their flowers should find,
And prickly dogrose spite of its array
Can't dare the blossom-seeking hand away,
While thistles wear their heavy knobs of bloom
Proud as a warhorse wears its haughty plume,
And by the roadside danger's self defy;
On commons where pined sheep and oxen lie
In ruddy pomp and ever thronging mood
It stands and spreads like danger in a wood,
And in the village street where meanest weeds
Can't stand untouched to fill their husks with seeds,
The haughty thistle oer all danger towers,
In every place the very wasp of flowers.

This photo explores the quiet tension between light and darkness as the dune’s arc turns gently into shadow. I wanted a composition here that reduced the landscape to pure geometry, just an abstract interplay of curve, light, tone, and texture. The way the dune bent in this light felt almost like human posture.
Take a look down the river. Autumn is coming and the leaves are turning. There is a pool gathering before it rushes onward down the river.
The twain'd tree
Bends, ambivalent,
Twined by vines,
Standing where two trails meet.

I'm sure it could be better for all kinds of reasons, but as anyone familiar with that neck of the woods knows all too well, its really windy and not easy to get a long exposure. The fact that the arrows on the carriageway are fairly sharp is a bit of a miracle in the circumstances.
One of my worst all time experiences on a motorcycle was on this stretch of road in very windy conditions and it was 9 months before I rode a bike again.
I had an almost as traumatic experience whilst I was taking this but I'm not going to elaborate...

Knockalla Bends, Fanad, Portsalon, Donegal, Ireland
I’ve always found this winding road really fascinating! how it winds its way down this hillside, like a giant snake about to slither back into the sea 🐍 . Towering over the western shore of Lough Swilly this hilltop commands spectacular views over Ballymastocker Beach & Portsalon in the distance.
Knockalla hill has one of the most uniquely beautiful views to be found throughout Ireland. A few years ago, this beach was voted second place as the most beautiful beach in the world! Merely missing 1st place to a paradise island in the Seychelles. Not too shabby for a beach on the corner of Donegal
Hope you enjoy! Please favourite & add me as a contact to view my newest upcoming works, Thank you
‘The Bends’. Have you ever stopped to wonder about a bend in the road? Early man (or animal) ambled along until an obstacle came his way - he ponders a while then decides the best option and goes left or right until the next obstacle - and goes through the same thought process again! And every man since then has followed suit trusting his forebears intuition. Hitherto the ploughman must do the same and will continue so for the edge of his field is down the same well trodden path!

I had some time on a recent trip to Scotland to have a good old wander around Glencoe. The weather was generally rubbish, but I had a five minute gap in the clouds while I was down at the S-bends and I captured this.
It's a great location for long covid sufferers as it is literally a five minute walk from a layby - and the tourists, walkers and midges didn't seem aware of it so I had it all to myself.
Happy days :-)

i experimented a bit with AI and after editing the result to make it less clean i really enjoyed it. what do you think?
i asked chatGPT:
do you think this work has been created by AI?
the answer was:
No, the image appears very authentic and possesses that typical “imperfect perfection” of genuine photography. The details in the face, the natural wrinkles and irregularities, the motion blur in the background, and the profound emotion in the eyes strongly suggest a real shot. It also exudes a raw humanity that AI-generated images often don’t fully achieve. Furthermore, the composition and the interplay of light and shadow seem thoughtfully arranged, yet not overly staged. The photo bears the hallmark of an experienced photographer with a keen eye for emotion and drama.
