Right from the beginning, Lladró has been adding new creations to its extensive body of work year after year. Other pieces have made way for them and are no longer available in catalog. Besides their intrinsic artistic merit their estimonial value makes them especially attractive. Here we offer you a journey through the Lladró Historical Catalog. www.andorrart.com/blogdart/
Every Lladró piece of work is the result of a laborious artistic process. Sculptors follow their own inspiration but also perform, if the work requires it, a meticulous process of research and documentation. This is often the case with pieces or collections that reflect other cultures.
www.andorrart.com/blogdart/ Every Lladro creation begins with an artistic inspiration. The sculptor then makes the first sketch of the new figure in clay, which is examined and approved by the Creativity Committee, made up by many members, one of whom comes from the Lladró family. The sketch, in clay, is reproduced in plaster to provide the first mold, which will in turn become the definitive mold for the porcelain figurine. www.andorrart.com/blogdart/

Beginnings is a series at Riverview on the Old Testament spanning five weeks.
The original design called for many trees/roots, then we talked about sunflowers, then a single tree, then saw Andrew Hunt's Blue Ridge Origin set and decided we should ask to use the idea.
So, over the course of almost a week we constructed this set. There is a steel stud wall across the full length of the back wall (about 54 feet) with 3mil plastic and polymuslin cloth covering it. Attached to the back of the wall are 25 LED lights and the cross (also made from steel studs covered with plastic and material) is attached at the architectural truss and to the back of the wall.
The gray area and lettering is all projected on our white wall.
The 'dirt pile' is actually a structure of wood and chicken-wire with landscaping fabric covering it and 10 cubic feet of peat moss spread over the structure. The leaves are 1.5in Styrofoam that was cut with a jig-saw, painted and then holes were drilled in the ends to put bent PVC pipe into. The PVC was bent then spray-painted.
It may not sound like all that much but it was a long build.

This isn't the first film picture I took, but it is the first I saw when Wyatt sent me the files for the rolls we just got developed.
I don't know if it's because of that or because of the picture itself, but this is my favorite.
Sadly, the two photos I was looking forward to the most turned out black. poo poo poo. Wyatt is going to school me in exposure timing. And I will try them again with the next roll.
Wish me luck!

A random still life.
I like my new diary though, and I'm starting to write down things that happened. The pen signifies new beginnings in my new job, and the sweets are because from today, I vowed to cut down on sugar. That didn't quite work.
Today I called Phil at lunch and that was the start of a new beginning too. Things are looking up all round really :)
There was another assessment party. Something to do with a dishwasher, I forget, but we were stood down quite quickly.
We inspected the evaporator anodes and I got dirty. And I helped take a purifier apart for the first time on board. The first of many...
A single fall leaf clip art pattern was revolved four times into a square and that square used inside a hexagon. The hexagon was then built into the beginning of a tessellation of the plane.
Perhaps not as apparent in this photo, but the ambient temperature is chilly and the smells of Fall are abundant.
The beginning of fall is evident with the colorful foliage starting to make its presence know. Rocky Gap State Park is located in Cumberland/Flintstone, Allegany County, Maryland, United States.
Rocky Gap State Park encompasses over 3,000 acres of public land for guests to enjoy. Rugged mountains surround the park which features 243-acre Lake Habeeb. The lake is fed by Rocky Gap Run which winds its way through an impressive mile long gorge displaying sheer cliffs, overlooks and a hemlock forest dense with rhododendron. Overlooking the lake is Evitts Mountain, named for one of the first European settlers in Allegany County.

A candid moment taken in the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh.
Busy day today, first off to Bristol for my son's Tae Kwon Do Black Belt exam and then later this afternoon off to the cinema to watch the new Spiderman movie. Catch up with you all later!
This is where it all began, in the solar system. A speck of dust, then two, three, and a swirling motion from the atmosphere. Today, we are here.
Diver scallop with potato-bacon risotto, winter greens, and toasted garlic. (à la carte $10)
Notes: The potato risotto was interesting - a brunoise of potato in a creamy risotto-like mixture. I'm not sure why he called it a risotto - did the chef cook the brunoise potatoe like a risotto: adding broth and stirring slowly until the starche leached out of the potatoe to form a thick porridge? Not sure. It was nice and smokey from the bacon. It was over-salted....
... as were the scallops, where just this side of over-cooked for me. They were wonderfully pan-seared and carmelized, but the insides had gone just tad tough for my liking... but they were still acceptable.
The winter vegetables were a disaster. They could have used another hour in a braise - they were tough and stringy - I had a hard time chewing it - ended up swalling it in a huge unchewed wad. Yuck!!
These apples have just been dumped from a crate onto a conveyor belt and are beginning their journey to a bottle.
Oil paint on canvas
Taken in the exhibition
Walter Sickert
(April – September 2022)
Walter Sickert is recognised as one of the most important artists of the 20th century, having helped shape modern British art as we know it. With ties to renowned painters from James Abbott McNeill Whistler to Edgar Degas, he strengthened the artistic connections between Britain and France and continues to influence contemporary painters to this very day.
The first major retrospective of Sickert at Tate in over 60 years, this exhibition explores how he had an often radical, distinctive approach to setting and subject matter. From working off detailed sketches to taking inspiration from news photography, these were the tools he used to depict his vision of everyday life.
A former actor, he had a flair and fascination for all things theatrical, including performers in music halls crafted on canvas, and nude portraits staged in intimate, domestic settings. His imagination was also fuelled by current events including the rise of celebrity culture, and he used this to create compelling narratives.
Much like the man, his art was complex. Creative and colourful, his body of work was ever-changing and can be interpreted in different ways. His own self-portraits, for example, showcase how he evolved throughout his career – from his beginnings as an actor and artistic apprentice, to becoming one of the most gifted and influential artists of his time.
