When the sky is so clear, you see nothing but stars. It is amazing how these star are so far from us to a point that they are unreachable. The lovely thing about taking night photo is that you get that moment of peace where you cannot really get during the daytime :)

On Canada Day, in downtown Vancouver at Coal Harbour, this bird sang his head off too, in various locations. Caught many shots, this was my favourite. Is this an American Sognbird? Anyone?
Located on Vancouver Island, in B.C.- this pretty well describes their gardens, taken from hellobc site:;Woodland Gardens is a feast for the senses, and nature's healing powers contained in this serene beauty bring a calmness and tranquility to the soul."

Deadman Island is a 3.8 ha island to the south of Stanley Park in Coal Harbour in Vancouver, British Columbia. The indigenous S?wxwú7mesh name is "skwtsa7s", meaning simply "island." Officially designated "Deadman Island" by the Geographical Names Board of Canada in 1937.
One of Vancouver's first white settlers, John Morton, visited the island in 1862. Morton discovered hundreds of red cedar boxes lashed to the upper boughs of trees and one had evidently fallen and broken to reveal a jumble of bones and a tassel of black hair. The island was the tree-burial grounds of the S?wxwú7mesh.
Undeterred, Morton took a fancy to the island and attempted to acquire it. He changed his mind when Chief Capilano pointed out that the island was "dead ground" and was a scene of a bloody battle between rival tribes in which some two hundred warriors were killed.
Settlers continued to use the island as a cemetery prior to the 1887 opening of Mountain View Cemetery. Between 1888 and 1892, Deadman Island became a quarantine site for victims of a smallpox epidemic and burial ground for those who did not survive.
Vancouver's Naval Reserve Division, HMCS Discovery, is strategically located on the island in support of the security of Vancouver Harbour.
These delicate little blossoms carpeted the shady side of a forest path in the Comox Valley, BC… it was amazing how many ppl didn’t even notice them until they asked my friend and I what we were photographing..

It is great to have a small getaway trip with my high school friends. The last time I skied in Whistler was many years ago. Most of the time, my friends and I would go to Big White as it was much cheaper to book a condo there.
This is also my first time bringing a camera to ski with me. I was thinking to bring two lenses with me (XF16-55 and XF50-140mm). Unfortunately, my backpack was too big for the chairlift so I decided to bring a sling bag with one lens. In the end, I made the right choice of bringing XF50-140mm. It provided so much reach to get the shots I wanted.

Absolutely love these owls, such beautiful creatures.
~ This largest (by weight) North American owl shows up irregularly in winter to hunt in windswept fields or dunes. They spend summers far north of the Arctic Circle hunting lemmings, ptarmigan, and other prey in 24-hour daylight.
Body sizes are, 20 to 28 in in height (52 to 71 cm) with their wingspan 4.2 to 4.8 ft (1.3 to 1.5 m), weight averages between
3.5 to 6.5 lbs (1.6 to 3 kg).
Most remain within their breeding grounds year-round, while others migrate in winter to southern Canada and the northern half of the States.
Interestingly these owls are not nocturnal and hunt day and night preferring wide open areas as opposed to heavily forested areas. ~
