This is one of the waterfalls in New Hampshire. The trail is flat thus anyone including young children can go there easily.

Blah... back to the archive! This shot is from Yellowstone National Park's Midway Geyser Basin. I still have a ton of photos from the trip last summer that I never posted.
You'd think with all the trees blooming and flowers poking up through the ground, that I'd definitely have something new to photograph. Alas, the fates have conspired against me. On the days that have been good for photography, I've been at work. On the weekends, it's either rained or I've had other obligations. On top of that all, the entire trail system in Shenandoah National Park is closed so park officials can search for a missing man.
I was thinking that this coming weekend, I'd finally get a chance to get out there and take some new photos - but the forecast is for rain *again*.
In the series of hearts that I regularly find in my house ...:D ... Yes, life includes a true part of magic, and she chooses to show it us more or less, according to her infinite wisdom (always incomprehensible for the mind...) And you, does she show it to you? I hope so from the bottom of my... heart :-)
We did a big 5 day 33 mile backpacking trip this summer into the Wind River Range in Wyoming. This is midway into Titcomb Basin. It's an incredible place and stunningly beautiful, even in the rain. Just make sure you pack your bug spray, the mosquitos are relentless!

The Mojave River is easily mistaken for a dry wash filled with sand. Although water of the Mojave cut Afton Canyon from the surrounding mountains, only a few times in recent history has enough water flowed here to provide more evidence than a puddle. The river exits the east end of Afton Canyon and ends in the vast Mojave River Sink basin. The Union Pacific built the route of the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad through this part of the California Mojave Desert along the convenient path of the river to avoid the surrounding mountains.
The rising sun turns the sky and thin cloud to delicate shades of pink and orange over the Mojave River Sink. The crown of the rails running east from the west switch at Basin siding reflect the color of the sky. The mainline of the UP LA & SL is nearly tangent before turning south into the Devil’s Playground to avoid the Kelso Mountains 25 miles distant across the empty basin. At the point were the rails vanish over the horizon a red signal at the west switch at Crucero indicates an approaching westbound grain train.
Union Pacific replaced the original Union Switch and Signal Company signal hardware on the Cima Sub during a modernization in 2015. By 2020 the disused code line on the north side of the right-of-way had also been removed.

This is "The Basin" on the Pemigewasset River in New Hampshire. This river flows through Franconia Notch State Park and is part of New Hampshire's White Mountains. This is a perfect time of year to visit this place as the ice and snow transform the waters into an almost other worldly sight.
We decided to hike here the day after Christmas. The Basin is not that far from the road, but hiking through the snow made it quite challenging!!
I tested out the Lensbaby Circlular Fisheye today when I took my mom for a drive to see the wildflowers.
this was shot at the end of January up in the Buttermilks. i haven't been out taking any photos for some time now, but have been going thru some old files. i need to get out and take some pictures!!

The upper reaches of the Sabrina Basin is worth the trek to get there. Gorgeous meadows with streams and lakes galore surrounded by 13,000 foot snow capped peaks. Iconic high Sierra. Here is Picture Peak with the day's first light, reflecting in a pond near Sailor Lake.

The Norris Geyser Basin is the hottest geyser basin in the park and is located near the northwest edge of Yellowstone Caldera near Norris Junction and on the intersection of three major faults. The Norris-Mammoth Corridor is a fault that runs from Norris north through Mammoth to the Gardiner, Montana, area. The Hebgen Lake fault runs from northwest of West Yellowstone, Montana, to Norris. This fault experienced an earthquake in 1959 that measured 7.4 on the Richter scale (sources vary on exact magnitude between 7.1 and 7.8; see 1959 Yellowstone earthquake). Norris Geyser Basin is so hot and dynamic because these two faults intersect with the ring fracture zone that resulted from the creation of the Yellowstone Caldera of 640,000 years ago.

I meant to watch the London's Notting Hill Carnival on this day ( in view of taking loads of shots of course ) but the weather was crap ,well to me it was . Though the the forecast for the day was dry but it was cloudy and grey ,it gave the feel it 's gonna be pouring with rain any time soon - it was nippy too . Perhaps because I get used to the warm Philippine temperature with its long lasting effects by which the grey English summer feels to me like I'm in winterland . I don't mind if its down to 17 oC , I can exist with only a t-shirt but below that I need a jumper . Without the sunshine , honestly I am NOT too motivated to go out . It was a bank holiday , and it's sad to stay indoors and waste my time possibly in flickr lol ...so did a walk in the afternoon and ended up here at Heybridge Basin .Then the sun pops out giving a nice afternoon glow . Love it here and took a number of shots before it gets too dark . The Notting Hill Carnival will be for another time ... only if it's a promising sunny day .
These round, toad-like frogs inhabit desert sagebrush steppes across the Great Basin desert, typically emerging only at night following rain.

During my road trip move from TX to central WA, I made Yellowstone National Park one of my stops along the way. Of course, it was summertime, probably the worst time in the world to visit that particular park. I couldn't find one at Upper Geyser Basin (and those of you who have gone there know how big that parking lot is) so, disgruntled, I drove on toward Gardiner. On the way, I saw the turnoff to Biscuit Basin and decided to try my luck there. A car was backing out of a small parking space so I quickly squeezed my own little car in. The landscape in this show was one of the first sights that greeted my eyes as I headed toward the boardwalk. The geology of Yellowstone never fails to amaze me.
I'm heading back there this fall and can't wait!

Taken on a 4 day backpacking trip around the Rae Lakes Loop in the sierra, the trail on the second day opened up to this beautiful view of the Rae Lakes basin area in Kings National Park. The river in the photo flows out of the trio of Rae Lakes, through Arrowhead Lake, & winds it's way through lush meadows down the valley eventually ending up in the South Fork of Woods Creek. Fin Dome, Painted Lady, and a couple more peaks can be seen on the horizon.
