The Bowling Basin is situated at the River Clyde side of the Forth and Clyde Canal:-) It was a cold day when this was taken and the water had icy patches on it.

... as seen from Cable Bridge. The area around Cardiff Docks was once referred to as Bae Teigr - Tiger Bay - because of how rough a neighbourhood it was supposed to be. By the time of the First World War, Cardiff Docks were moving nearly 10 million tons of coal per year from the Welsh mines to the rest of Britain and the world. These peaceful new developments are less than 20 years old, part of the complete redesign of Cardiff Bay at the turn of the Century. How times have changed...

Badwater Basin is an endorheic basin in Death Valley National Park, Death Valley, Inyo County, California, noted as the lowest point in North America, with a depth of 282 ft (86 m) below sea level.
At the edge of the basin, where water is not always present at the surface, repeated freeze–thaw and evaporation cycles gradually push the thin salt crust into hexagonal honeycomb shapes.

The exit to Grandfather Mountain from the Blue Ridge Parkway showcases this interesting little fall. It's head water is a mountain spring flowing down from Grandfather mountain, and drops into this little basin at the bottom. I stopped the car and took a few minutes to compose a shot here. Portraits and Waterfalls... Things I have issues photographing. I would of been further back, but any further would of been in the road. Ah well, I still enjoyed getting out and shooting!

Swamp Creek Basin showing the classic U-shaped glacial carved valley as viewed from the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in the North Cascades, Washington State. At the far left in the distance is Black Peak. Next is Mount Hardy, Golden Horn, and Tower Mountain.
Nautical Twilight in the Atchafalaya Basin can offer some unique scenes to photograph. The Cypress sentinels of the swamps offer great silhouettes.....but a little Crescent Moon doesn't hurt either....
It was a prideful moment to introduce my friend Alfred (www.flickr.com/photos/alfredlockwood/) to this place.....as we were greeted with glorious skies. This was my take from the bow of my boat while he was clicking away at the stern.
I'm guessing he was smiling as much as I was......

On the Tuesday after Labor Day 2022, the Columbia Basin ran a turn from Warden north to serve customers in the Wheeler area. The CBRW has an impressive fleet of SD9's in this attractive red, black, and white scheme. The 651 leading this train was previously on the MRL and EJ&E. They were working pretty good with this train coming up a short grade in the Atwood area about halfway between Warden and Wheeler.
A boardwalk (with low fencing) leads over small pools of water to the salt flats which cover almost 200 square miles. Badwater Basin is the lowest point in North America at 282 feet below sea level. The Panamint Range rises several miles in the distance with Telescope Peak at 11,049 elevation.

The Norris Geyser Basin is the hottest geyser basin in the park and is located near the northwest edge of Yellowstone Caldera near Norris Junction and on the intersection of three major faults. The Norris-Mammoth Corridor is a fault that runs from Norris north through Mammoth to the Gardiner, Montana, area. The Hebgen Lake fault runs from northwest of West Yellowstone, Montana, to Norris. This fault experienced an earthquake in 1959 that measured 7.4 on the Richter scale (sources vary on exact magnitude between 7.1 and 7.8; see 1959 Yellowstone earthquake). Norris Geyser Basin is so hot and dynamic because these two faults intersect with the ring fracture zone that resulted from the creation of the Yellowstone Caldera of 640,000 years ago.

Valley of Fire State Park is a public recreation and nature preservation area covering nearly 46,000 acres (19,000 ha) located 16 miles (26 km) south of Overton, Nevada. The state park derives its name from red sandstone formations, the Aztec Sandstone, which formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays. It is Nevada's oldest state park, as commemorated with Nevada Historical Marker #150. It was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1968.
Valley of Fire is located in the Mojave Desert 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Las Vegas, at an elevation between 1,320–3,009 feet (402–917 m). It abuts the Lake Mead National Recreation Area on the east at the Virgin River confluence. It lies in a 4 by 6 mi (6.4 by 9.7 km) basin.
