Standing sentinel at the centre of the Memorial are six huge basalt obelisks, etched with the names of all the countries where Australians were held prisoner of war.

Basalt cliffs on the west side of Table Mountain, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Kittitas County, WA. About a month after this photo was taken, this forest was devastated by a lightning-caused forest fire.
