E.B. and Mary Harvey Barker bought this house of locally quarried limestone in May 1873. The Barkers, who resided on a farm at Rice’s Crossing (20 mi. E), lived here during the winter season so that their eight children could attend school in Round Rock. Their son, Dudley, became a noted Texas Ranger; he returned to the house in 1940 to etch his birth date on an interior wall. As an intact example of a vernacular center-passage house, the dwelling is a vivid reminder of pioneer architecture.

Situated on Galena Creek in the Little Belt Mountains of Judith Basin County, silver was first found by two different men in the fall of 1879. Near their finds, separate mining camps grew up including Barker, named for E.A. "Buck" Barker and his Barker Mine near Galena Creek; and Hughesville, situated just two miles down the mountainside from Barker and named for Patrick Hughes who filed the Grey Eagle claim.
we didn't make it to Hughsville ( the one I wanted to see the most)..we had the car & couldn't make it ..but next year we will :)

When in a gallery you are taught not to touch. My goal is to create an object you have no option but to run your hands over. To achieve this I made a series of patterned and textured works that create a feeling of curiosity. So go on, touch it.
I started looking at patterns I drew as organic-like structures similar to the way plants grow. Much plant growth is based on the fractal system. They appear fluid and random but are controlled by a complex structure.
In the work I have made I employ the method of copper electro-forming, replicating this controlled, fluid growth by using chemistry in a structured method to create a textured organic-looking form that asks to be touched.
