Colourful barstools sit outside a restaurant in Auckland Wynyard Quarter on a Saturday morning.

Nobody questions Otis's occupation of the "tall" chair (barstool?).

There is, however, a remnant of ribbon tied around the chair--at seat level--that drives the kittens crazy. (Now 18 months old, but still acting like kittens.) It's shiny silver, looped around once and tied, and the two ends have corkscrew curls. Inevitably, the kittens will nudge Otis while they play with the ribbon or he will get agitated and swish his tail--making his tail the new target.

I was wandering around the Pueblo Railway Museum early one Saturday last month before heading into work. While no compositions caught my eye that morning, I did go inside Union Depot and was happy to find some nice window light illuminating these barstools.

I only spent more than two hours trying to untangle these dang wind chimes and I made a big gain. When my husband and my friend got home from the store, she knocked into the barstool and got it all tangled up again. Ugh. They say to throw it away and we’ll get a new one. I said I would fix it because I am a detangling maniac. I don’t care if the damn thing breaks while I’m fixing it but aside from that I’m not going to give up!! ♉️💯🚫‼️

On the first Saturday of November 1984, the Pacific Railroad Society ran a day trip from Los Angeles to Barstow, California. It was called the "Desert Scout," in honor of a Santa Fe train from days gone by. The highlight of the trip was getting to ride over the freight only (at that time) Third District of Santa Fe's Los Angeles Division between Fullerton and San Bernardino.

At Barstow, the train rolled through the middle of Santa Fe's massive yard and turned on the balloon track there. It then backed into the passenger station and laid over for an hour or two before the return to LA.

There were lots of things to see, such as the parade of trains on the main line. Across the tracks from the depot, several ex-Amtrak SDP40Fs were parked at the old ATSF diesel shop, awaiting their turn at rebuilding down in San B. It was a fine day.
