This digital picture was taken in a dance studio at Interlochen Camp for the Arts. I love watching dancers, and I had never photographed them before, so I thought it was time to experiment. These feet belong to a little 7-year-old dancer, who was practicing her routine alone in this room. I really like this one because it shows the detail of her feet. At that moment, she was in midstream of going from the floor to her tip-toes.
me and my friend Marcin started our new "Dance Project".By the end of the month we have time to do this project. The aim is to implement unique images for the company producing ballet costumes.

Coming here is Elizabeth. It's not very easy for me to find the right words to describe her, cuz she's practically the best doll I've ever worked with (but don't you let the other ones know about this ; )).
No joking - she's a dream! Never had a really bad picture with her ever, always gorgeous poses, beautiful looks. Thank you so much, dear Lizzie, it was such a pleasure to have you as a model!

Ballet Afternoon, that’s a small and limited collection of my latest fashions, that was highly inspired by dancewear from ballerinas. It includes soft and delicate flowing fabrics and combines timeless black and versatile grey with beautiful powder and rose-colored tones.
After a challenging workout the young dancers are attracted to a delicious coffee and are about to leave the studio still brimming with the feeling of defying gravity and in anticipation of an enchanting “Ballet Afternoon”.

Dancers for the Metropolitan Ballet rehearse for an August 7-8, 2009 production: "Ballets Russes 100 Year Festival," a tribute to the legendary Parisian troupe directed by Serge Diaghilev 100 years ago. The festival will take place at O’Shaughnessy Auditorium on the College of St. Catherine Campus in St. Paul, Minnesota. Nina Novak, featured in the movie Ballets Russes, is scheduled to host the two-day affair. Music will be done by the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra, with Yuri Ivan conducting. The works to be performed include include "Les Sylphides," "Le Spectre de la Rose," "Blue Bird," "The Fairy Doll," "The Dying Swan," "Polovtsian Dances" and one contemporary piece, Vaslav Nijinsky’s "Last Dance." The Metropolitan Ballet, based in the Twin Cities, was founded in 2002 by Erik Sanborn and includes members of the Metropolitan Ballet Academy. The ballet masters for the company are Tatiana Berenova (former prima ballerina at the National Academic Bolshoi Ballet Theatre of The Republic of Belarus and the Moscow Renaissance Ballet) and Venezuelan-born Ramon Thielen (a principal dancer at The Dance Theater of Harlem).

This is the result of long hair & makeup sessions. This is one of the many headhots I did of the dancers in full costume and makeup.

This series is from a recent shoot I did in NYC of the all-male comedy ballet company Les Ballets Grandiva. They are based out of NYC but perform mainly throughout Asia where they are VERY popular. These shoots were for images for their 2010 Japan Tour Program Book.
The company is all men and they dance both the male and female roles. Their repetoire consists of parodies of famous ballets, as well as original comedic ballet works. The men dancing as women dance on-pointe in tutus and the company members are all highly trained and skilled ballet dancers who've spent their lives studying the art.
