My Moda Bakeshop Debut! =D

I couldn't be more excited about this quilt! It's made with Sunkissed by Sweetwater fabric and I love it to pieces.

Moda Bakeshop Tutorial here, including the simple trapunto technique used for appliques:

www.modabakeshop.com/2011/06/summer-squares-quilt.html

This was inspired from the idea from Moda's Bakeshop. I used Amy Butler Daisy Chain fabrics and plain white fabric.

This is a pattern from the bake shop. I used the sweet range by Urban Chiks.

These were designed for a bachelorette party being held in NYC. While they were much more work than I originally planned on (and charged), I am very happy with the result.

Vanilla and chocolate shortbread cookies cutout with custom Whipped Bakeshop cutter. I used multiple techniques to get different effects including hand painting, stamped letters, piping and hand-shaped fondant.

Pink and chocolate colored polka-dots adorn these pretty pink initials. Each packaged with a pretty brown grosgrain ribbon, they are the perfect for shower, birthday, or thank you gift!

Ivory fondant-covered tiers are graced with pretty pink sugar blooms and a sophisticated bow on top.

Meandering path quilt from Moda Bakeshop

This cake was specially designed for two Philadelphia-area artists, one a sculptor, and the other a weaver. The colors of the tiers reflect the same hues on one of the weaver's rugs, while the handmade fondant topper mimics one of the sculptors' designs. The couple was wonderful to work with, and I love how the design turned out!

As soon as I saw the Flickr Friday challenge was #Moon, I knew where I was going for the shot. And, as usual, I got there before they opened. (When you shoot the sunrise every day, it’s not hard to do.) Any excuse to go to The Moon Bakeshop works for me. They have to best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. Period. And it’s perfect every time.

I really thought I’d get a shot of the whole storefront — with a pedestrian or a car blurred, going past the front. I try not to overthink it and remain flexible. But as soon as I saw the sky reflected in the glass door -- with the lights on back in the kitchen — I knew I would wind up using this shot. I’d love to go back every morning and wait for a great sky but…I can’t afford the calories. I’ll have to walk a couple of extra miles on the mountain to pay for today’s sins. But it’s worth it.

In 1918 the Moore's acquired a 72 foot section of Washington Avenue west of the Central Hotel. The property, including Minnehaha tearooms and grocery with living quarters above built in 1913, was bought from local builder Peter Greyell and using the nickname he had been tagged with because of his surname Walter Moore and his wife opened "Dinty's".
