One of the vertical frames we shot of Anna, and a look at her in colour.

My post editing has a gradient map applied, with 25% soft light blending mode in PSCC, to pop the existing colour palette.

This is a background for my mother on a profile website.

These colors really pop out behind the black background of this quilted fiber art piece framed in a fabric wrapped embroidery hoop.

The technique used to make this is called reverse applique, which means the shapes are cut out of the black fabric and the patterned fabric is placed behind it. A layer of batting is put behind it all and then machine stitched around all the shapes with the beautiful sheen of rayon embroidery thread.

Stock Background Texture

I photographed 55 people against a white background for the London Cycling Campaign on Saturday afternoon (fuelled only by tea and bourbon biscuits).

Lighting info:

1 big white sheet from Brixton market lit by 2 x Yongnuo 560s at 1/8 power,

1 silver umbrella with 580ex at 1/2 power (left and high)

1 orbis ring flash on a stand with 580ex at 1/4 power (left and low - to light bike)

Mid-Town Global market is a melange of ethnic eateries, gift shops, artisans, bars, etc. It has a Westernized feeling of a Middle East souk and community gathering place.

And as one might expect there is this large mural that is a retro depiction of such a marketplace. I noticed the figures were representative of different ethnic groups, as well as culturally different foods and services.

What struck me was this man sitting there having his cup of coffee and how he was a living part of that mural.

I like those kinds of juxtapositions and look for them to photograph. I processed this photo with, what I hope, is a mural-like flavor to express some continuity between the reality and the background work. At least that was the intention.
