I have so many textures blended into this one. Most are mine and some are free. I did use one of vintage findings/painted works. www.flickr.com/photos/vintagefindings/8067754957/in/set-7...

How do I get this onto my iPhone?
There are a number of ways to do this, however I think the easiest and fastest way is to download Flickr’s free app. Within the Flickr app you surf over to my photo feed to view the images (if you make me a contact then I’ll appear in the flickr contact list). When you find one you like, just click the download button and save the image directly to your phone. Quick & Simple!
I don’t have an iPhone. Can I still use it on my phone?
As of this writing this image (960 x 640) should be large enough to be used as wallpaper with the Droid / Android, BlackBerry, Windows 7, and iPhone.
How did you make it?
This background was made using graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Filter Forge, Genetica, Wacom, Alien Skin, Topaz Labs, as well as several other programs.

Background to the building of the Formby By Pass.
Report From 1928
The present Liverpool-Southport Road in the vicinity of Formby is narrow and tortuous, and the built-up nature of this Township precludes the possibility of improving to any appreciable extent the existing road, which in recent years has become an important route carrying a large amount of traffic to the resorts of Southport and Ainsdale.
In view of these circumstances the Highways and Bridges Committee concluded that only by means of an entirely new road could the exigency of traffic requirements be effectively dealt with, and in 1928 the location of a provisional by-pass route was considered and incorporated in Formby Urban District Town Planning Scheme.
The suggested width was 6o feet, but this was later increased to 75 feet. Restrictions imposed by the Government's national economy proposals prevented further consideration being given at that time to a scheme of this magnitude with the result that the preparation of details was held in abeyance. The Highways and Bridges Committee were fully cognizant of the rapid increase in the volume of traffic and in order to temporarily ameliorate the situation the existing road through Formby village was widened at several acute bends.

If you use this, please use credit. I really like this one -- proud of it. So, i'd like some credit. :D
I selected the background and did some experimenting. There are six more with manipulated backgrounds in my photostream. I'd like to hear opinions on what works, what doesn't, and what looks stupid.
This is the original image (but not the original size. I'm not a "Pro" so I cannot upload full-sized images. No matter, this works.
Background for Lesson 2 of Paulette's Faces class. I left the center a bit vacant on purpose, knowing that is where I will be painting my lady. The scratch-like strokes were made with a "koosh" ball and pigment ink pad.

The hotel has very sheer curtains, and it gives an interesting effect when viewing lights at night. I'll do some more experimenting with this . . . but its interesting. I've cropped it to 16x9 for use as a desktop background.
Sometimes I go for "interesting" rather than "good."
Instead of just taking a picture I went walking around looking for a photo that told a story. The background of the photo would have to be part of the story
Angled shot of my DIY aquarium background installed with the tank lights on. I can not wait to finish setting it up. I will post some finished shots once its filled up and stocked.
