The hi-rez version's here:
Background: Cumin was curled up in the cat bed on top of the manschest when Vidalia hopped up. Vidalia often sleeps there, and she will happily cuddle with any feline. Cumin wasn't thrilled but didn't want to give up the bed, so the two girls were curled up together. . . of course I had to go get my camera. I took photos of the two together when Cumin finally decided she had had enough. Cumin got up and jumped onto the windowsill. Another photo op, of course. While I was photographing Cumin, I heard a distinct noise that I have come to identify as Gumbo trying to get up onto our bed. He was successful, I might add, but I think he will be happier when warmer days come and we put away the thick winter comforter. I couldn't resist taking his photograph. . . and it turned into a photo session. I'll sort through those photos, most likely tomorrow. Of course, Cumin wanted attention so she came to try to steal me from Gumbo. Cumin paraded back and forth arching her back and dancing enough that when Curiosity entered he immediately playfully attacked her. . . Cumin darted under the bed (on which Gumbo still lay comfortably posing for photos although his ears were taking it all in by varying their position). Curiosity darted under the bed after her. I took pity on the girl and offered some distraction. . . here, finally, is what quickly appeared just under the end of the bed. . . never a dull moment in our home (. . . although Kevin claims things are calm until I get home and everyone wants to be the center of my world). Certainly makes photography fun!

How do I get this onto my iPhone?
There are a number of ways to do this, however I think the easiest and fastest way is to download Flickr’s free app. Within the Flickr app you surf over to my photo feed to view the images (if you make me a contact then I’ll appear in the flickr contact list). When you find one you like, just click the download button and save the image directly to your phone. Quick & Simple!
I don’t have an iPhone. Can I still use it on my phone?
As of this writing this image (960 x 640) should be large enough to be used as wallpaper with the Droid / Android, BlackBerry, Windows 7, and iPhone.
How did you make it?
This background was made using graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Filter Forge, Genetica, Wacom, Alien Skin, Topaz Labs, as well as several other programs.

I selected the background and did some experimenting. There are six more with manipulated backgrounds in my photostream. I'd like to hear opinions on what works, what doesn't, and what looks stupid.
This is the original image (but not the original size. I'm not a "Pro" so I cannot upload full-sized images. No matter, this works.

Background for Lesson 2 of Paulette's Faces class. I left the center a bit vacant on purpose, knowing that is where I will be painting my lady. The scratch-like strokes were made with a "koosh" ball and pigment ink pad.
Each individual seen in these photos has their own story. All coming from very scary, and brutal backgrounds.
Instead of considering them lucky - we should understand why their past was horrific and how we can change that, today.
Sheep raised for their wool face a similar fate as those raised for meat. Again, wool from younger sheep is preferred, and once their production decreases, they are sent to slaughter. Most of the world’s wool comes from Australian sheep. After years of producing wool for market, these sheep are then shipped live to the Middle East to be slaughtered for meat. Their ocean journey is a crowded, tortuous trek which can take over three weeks, only to have their throats slashed upon arrival…while fully conscious.
Most of the sheep raised in Australia are merino sheep. Merino sheep have wrinkly skin, which makes them vulnerable to fly larva infestation. Horrifically, the treatment, called mulesing, involves removing large amounts of skin from the sheep’s backside while they are fully conscious with no pain medication or anesthesia.
Lanolin, the waxy substance secreted by wool-bearing animals, is usually extracted from the sheared sheep’s wool. This substance is used in many cosmetics and lotions used for moisturizers, as well as in many industrial products. Most shearers are paid “per sheep,” so they rush through the shearing procedure, leading to cuts and nicks, which then lead to infections that are rarely treated. After years of this painful treatment during shearing, they are sent to slaughter.
Since wool-bearing sheep have been bred to continuously grow their wool, the sheep residents at the Refuge require yearly shearing. Too much wool leads to heat-related ailments and other health issues. Understanding this, we work with a gentle shearer who takes the time to shear each sheep in as peaceful a way as possible. Because of this, our flock is sheared over many days, but are much happier for it.
A wild sheep takes care of their wool just fine, growing just enough for the winter and simply shedding it naturally in the summer. In captivity, just as factory farmed animals have been bred to be larger to produce more meat, sheep have been bred to produce more wool, making them more susceptible to heatstroke and leading to the need to be sheared.
Animals are not ours to eat, wear or use in any capacity - they have their own lives to live, just like us.
These beautiful sheep live peacefully at one of the most incredible farm sanctuaries you will come across, Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge.
Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge provides lifelong care to rescued farm animals, educates people about the realities of animal agriculture, and promotes veganism by offering knowledge, support, and community.

The hotel has very sheer curtains, and it gives an interesting effect when viewing lights at night. I'll do some more experimenting with this . . . but its interesting. I've cropped it to 16x9 for use as a desktop background.
Sometimes I go for "interesting" rather than "good."
Instead of just taking a picture I went walking around looking for a photo that told a story. The background of the photo would have to be part of the story
