He stumbled into faith and thought
God, there is all there is
The pictures in his mind arose
And began to breathe
And all the gods and all the worlds
Began colliding on a backdrop of blue

One of the rules at Flipside this year was that if you wanted your theme camp to be facing the effigy, you had to visually isolate the residential part of the camp from the "show" part of the camp.
Circle of Fire has always been pretty minimal about infrastructure. Gwen thought up the idea we wound up using: creating a screen out of banner material and T-posts. Simple and effective. The banners are arranged in a semicircle (or quartercircle, more accurately); you can see the tape measure I used to mark the T-post positions in this frame.
Not visible here is the elaborate patterns that Gwen punched in the overhang parts of each sheet, with the expectation these would cast interesting shadows on the fire circle in the sunshine. We only got about 4 hours of sunshine the whole weekend, so we never got to see that plan in action.
In spite of that, this backdrop concept worked out well. It gave the fire circle more of its own sense of place, as I'd hoped. It wasn't too hard to set up or take down, and held up to the winds pretty well (only two broken zip-ties).
Fun backdrops for the photobooth.

As you move through Labyrinth, you're constantly getting new juxtapositions between the backdrops and the cutouts. Note more Led Zeppelin imagery on the cutout.
