But as autumn approaches, certain influences both inside and outside the plant cause the chlorophylls to be replaced at a slower rate than they are being used up. During this period, with the total supply of chlorophylls gradually dwindling, the "masking" effect slowly fades away. Then other pigments that have been present (along with the chlorophylls) in the cells all during the leaf's life begin to show through. These are carotenoids they give us colorations of yellow, brown, orange, and the many hues in between.

The reds, the purples, and their blended combinations that decorate autumn foliage come from another group of pigments in the cells called anthocyanins. These pigments are not present in the leaf throughout the growing season as are the carotenoids. They develop in late summer in the sap of the cells of the leaf, and this development is the result of complex interactions of many influences - both inside-and outside the plant. Their formation depends on the breakdown of sugars in the presence of bright light as the level of a certain chemical (phosphate) in the leaf is reduced.

But in the fall, phosphate, along with the other chemicals and nutrients, moves out of the leaf into the stem of the plant. When this happens, the sugar-breakdown process changes, leading to the production of anthocyanin pigments. The brighter the light during this period, the greater the production of anthocyanins and the more brilliant the resulting color display that we see. When the days of autumn are bright and cool, and the nights are chilly but not freezing, the brightest colorations usually develop.

Online photo exhibition is the last 3 days! For details, check the description. I was planning to actually exhibit it at a gallery in Tokyo in April, but it was postponed at the request of the government.

COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 is attacking all over the world. Japan is no exception, and everyday is becoming more difficult. As a photographer, I also thought about life and postponed the exhibition according to the government's request. The Japanese government does not support artists. So I decided to hold an online photo exhibition. This is free to watch.

The photo exhibition should be in the dark in the room at night, preferably with the playlist. Look at the brightness of mobile terminals at 1/3.

Thank you for your support. Thanks to everyone, we had more access than in Japan. Thank you. Last but not least, I would be happy if you could share the URL of the photo exhibition on your SNS. Thank you!

No one said that tears do not escorreriam by the face, but smiling maybe you can use those tears as spiritual cleansing and let it rain. Rain until the sun reappears and overflow you from light. No one said that you would be able to see clearly everything around you, but smiling maybe you will rediscover the path after tripping a few times. Nobody said it would be easy and its not!.

"Merlins are small, fierce falcons that use surprise attacks to bring down small songbirds and shorebirds," according to allaboutbirds.org. Maybe that explains why I spotted this Merlin perched high in the treetops at Chicago's Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, a place where lots of songbirds pass through during Spring migration. The scientific name for these predators, which are only about the size of a pigeon, is Falco columbarius.

In general, I love winter. It is extremely photogenic season. But today the cold hit us. Unpleasant wind and freezing rain, not snow, turned the car into a frozen cube of ice, wind gets everywhere, there's no wintery white and no matter how hard I'm trying, I feel cold and miserable. So I've decided to post a warmer picture today.

this young cheetah is the leader of a group of 3 that we found in Mara North Conservancy.

While we were following them they were attacked by 2 lionesses from the River Pride. The cheetahs were of course too fast to be caught but the lionesses kept on chasing them for about 15 minutes. This photo was taken after the attacks and when the 3 youngsters were again together and now this cheetah had to decide where to go now.

Later in the trip I found out that this group of young cheetahs had previously been chased out of the Lemek and Enonkishu Conservancies. These conservancies all have big lion prides and large populations of hyena's.

Very challenging conditions for cheetahs.

From a distance it looks like a cathedral, but however it is the former long-distance transmitter "Radio Kootwijk" that maintained the radio traffic between the Netherlands and their former colony of Indonesia.

The "Cathedral" consists of concrete in which no iron or steel has been processed, so as not to disturb the radio signal.

The architect Julius Luthmann was inspired for the design by the German "Telefunken" broadcasting station and the Giza Sphinx, which can bee seen from the "front legs" that formed the entrance.

The "pond" in front of the building was the cooling water reservoir that the immense transformers and generators had to cool.

Verse 1

Lanterns lighting up the town,

Peace on earth is all around,

Everything is calm on Christmas Eve.

There's goodwill in the air tonight,

Angels sing by candle light,

Their voices carried on the wind.

When carol singers gather round,

When I hear that festive sound,

I wanna join with them and sing!

Chorus

They sing a merry song and we all sing along,

A festive melody that tells us Christmas time is here.

See the stars tonight; they're shining bright,

'Cause it's Christmas time and it's my favourite time of year.

Verse 2

Deck the halls with boughs of holly,

Give me mistletoe; it's the season to be jolly,

Wrapping presents, writing cards, helping decorate the tree,

But there's one thing that makes it all for me.

When carol singers gather round,

Angel voices fill the town,

It's like the world is joining in!

(Noel, Noel, Noel)

Chorus

They sing a merry song and we all sing along,

A festive melody that tells us Christmas time is here.

See the stars tonight; they're shining bright,

'Cause it's Christmas time and it's my favourite time of year.

Middle 8

Christmas Eve,

Still believe,

So excited,

Can't sleep,

When the morning comes,

Church bells ring,

And he's been!

Chorus

They sing a merry song and we all sing along,

A festive melody that tells us Christmas time is here.

See the stars tonight; they're shining bright,

'Cause it's Christmas time and it's my favourite time of year.

And it's my favourite time of year

(Noel, Noel)

Thank you all for visits, faves and comments!

Well I tried to get them. But my shots were rubbish, so distracted was I by a chance meeting. And the ponies wouldn't co-operate.

I was very surprised to find the road down from the Cat and Fiddle was free of snow. And so I headed down to see 'my' ponies, the subjects of several recent shots. But when i got to the valley bottom I immediately scanned the hillside looking for the ponies and noticed with some disdain that there already appeared to be a photographer out in the snow with them. But I confidently (with a few slips and slides on the soft snow) strode out to assert myself. In fact the woman was facing away taking some shots when I rudely called out something like "These are my ponies!" At which she swung round, took stock of me and said, " I know who you are, and you are the reason I'm here! I've been hoping to meet you for a long time! You're.......... Where's your dog?"

Well, I was staggered. I had never met or seen the woman before......ever! I have been recognised many times before by my dog. But never without Darcy. Ahhhh! She recognised the Orange Blob!!!

sorry...but i need color today...at this grey and windy day..

I can hear you but I won't

Some look for trouble while others don't

There's a thousand reasons I should go about my day

And ignore your whispers, which I wish would go away, oh-oh-oh

You're not a voice

You're just a ringing in my ear

And if I heard you, which I don't

I'm spoken for, I fear

Everyone I've ever loved is here within these walls

I'm sorry, secret siren, but I'm blocking out your calls

I've had my adventure, I don't need something new

I'm afraid of what I'm risking if I follow you

Into the unknown

Into the unknown

What do you want? 'Cause you've been keeping me awake

Are you here to distract me so I make a big mistake?

Or are you someone out there who's a little bit like me?

Who knows deep down I'm not where I'm meant to be?

Every day's a little harder as I feel my power grow

Don't you know there's part of me that longs to go

Into the unknown

Into the unknown

Where are you going?

Don't leave me alone

How do I follow you

Into the unknown?

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Thanks for the visits folks. Thank you for the inspiration many of your streams bring me.
