Crazy Tuesday - I love..... books

This is a mixed selection in my guest room, in case somebody wants a read in bed..

"All I can hear, I me mine, I me mine, I me mine...". The Beatles.

Sometimes it feels like that. Couldn't help notice these hardbacks stacked in a bookshop

Beautifully arranged books at TIMES Litfest 2018 in Bengaluru.

I ROBOT

This is one of the first books I ever read after leaving school and it took me down the long road of Science Fiction. Isaac Asimov, Philip K Dick, J G Ballard, Frederic Pohl, Jack Williamson, Robert A Heinlein and so many others.

So this is a little tribute to those imaginative folk who put pen to paper, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The little clock character was a birthday gift of many moons ago, he seemed appropriate to go on the shelf too. A bit cranky now, he doesn’t stand up by himself but leans in a very casual way and is a good timekeeper.

The next bit is a bit weird, I don’t own a copy of Asimov’s “I Robot” because it’s not in Penguin Books and I only collect Penguin Science fiction but I might make an exception and buy it along with the ‘Foundation' series at some time.

Hope some of you have enjoyed Sci/Fi too and have appreciated those writers and their imaginations. Here are a couple of other titles that I think have gone down in history as classic fiction.

Haven't been feeling very inspired photo wise lately, I guess the winter weather doesn't help, but I put the trusty 50mm on the camera today and here's the result.

We have some old books that I was thumbing thru, and discovered this personal note handwritten from a friend to Fuller Barnes in 1899. Fuller F Barnes was a descendant of the founders of Wallace Barnes Mfg. now Associated Spring in our old town in Bristol CT.

Prior to my retirement I Designed and Engineered Tooling for their modern manufacturing processes.

My heart and prayers goes to all the innocent victims and families who are suffering in Israel and Palestine. l stand by all the innocent victims in the world who are suffering through war and other modern day cruelty. l pray for peace and harmony soon to israel, Ukraine to the world. Stay strong !

I am thinking the struggles women face in life, humanity with the pain and suffering we feel and experience, real things that empower us.. You are beautiful precious, unique individuals, not objects to be controlled. Its your body to love as your temple to express as you choose. Vulnerability is your power in your love and tenderness. Inner freedom resides deep within you. The truth inside your inner voice will find it. Never let anyone or anything reduce your essence. Freedom is your human right. It is important we stay true

I have made some of my photos into photo books. The book at the back is one I made after I completed my first 365 PotD challenge in 2018.

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated

pretty sure they were made for each other.

i love photographing books. there's something so personal about it for me - maybe because growing up books often took me away from a world that didn't always make sense. we moved around every few years, finally settling in canada for 6 years, and i can remember many a crackling cold winter night spent reading. summer days too, reading outside under dappled light and swaying trees. books are one constant thing in my life - i can always rely on them to take me away for a bit, or enhance an already beautiful day. i try to do them justice in my photos, but my attempts are feeble, at best.

what have you all been reading lately?

Born in Torquay in 1890, Agatha Christie became, and remains, the best-selling novelist of all time.

She is best known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, as well as the world’s longest-running play – The Mousetrap. Her books have sold over a billion copies in the English language and a billion in translation.

The one on top is the second part of one I read before. from the same author. Just as good.

(I'm already half way through the next three books, but the one I'm on is a bit boring so far so will take longer to read)
