Bo'ness, on the south side of the River Forth is my home town. The clouds were moving quickly in the wind. As they were moving away the setting sun gave them a nice glow. It was one of those days that kept changing from sunshine to showers. As we say in Scotland, if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes.

Arriving in Cape Town, there was one particular bucket list destination--Bo Kaap. Luckily, it was in walking distance from where we were staying.

This is a seven-image panorama of Chiappini street in the Bo-Kaap... quite possibly the most photographed street in Cape Town.
The Bo-Kaap is situated just outside central Cape Town... on the lower slopes of Signal Hill. It was established in 1844 as a township for the Cape Malay segment of the population.
This area is best known for its narrow cobbled streets and multi-coloured houses... the best examples of which can be found here... in upper Chiappini street.

1M52 Manuel to Bo'ness. The Celebrity Shed at the Diesel Gala. Class 66 (Pride of GB Railfreight) in GBRF livery with Rainbow effect graphics. Seen here on the rear as the set heads back to Bo'ness. Went for the pan shot as the weather was awful and to wet for the pole. Plus its only a 66.
The Bo-Kaap (“above the Cape" in Afrikaans) is an area of Cape Town, South Africa formerly known as the Malay Quarter. It is a former township, situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the city centre and is a historical centre of Cape Malay culture in Cape Town. (wikipedia.org)

1M52 Manuel to Bo'ness. Class 47 in Scotrail livery heads back towards Bo'ness station. D1970 (renumbered 47269 and latterly 47643) was built at Crewe, and when delivered in October 1965 was allocated to Haymarket Depot, Edinburgh. Since then it has been based in Scotland for most of its life. The locomotive was withdrawn in 1991 with fire damage to the engine room wiring, and has been extensively restored. This Class saw extensive use in Scotland on express passenger traffic, including use on push-pull services between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Decided to go for the pan shot here as the weather was horrific with pouring rain all morning so to get the pole out was no go as equipment would have got soaked.
