Built in 1899, this stunning Romanesque Revival structure originally served as the Blees Military Academy until its closure in 1907. It then acted as the Still-HiIdreth Osteopathic Sanatorium from 1915 to 1968. The main building, called Academic Hall is today used as an apartment complex for low income housing, and the smaller building to the north, known as the old Blees Military Academy gymnasium, is the Macon County Museum.
The facility stands at the south edge of Macon, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

I made this little purse for Marissas daughter Blee! It's my wristlet template with a flap and little strap. One pocket and a velcro closure for easy open and close. Debating making a couple for my shop, it's just so darling!

As part of my photography course I had to chose to study an artist and produce a photoshoot by being inspired by this artist. Rut Blees Luxemburg impressed me with her night photography and captivated me with her use of angles and lighting.
Blees Academy Gym was built in the same time period as the main bulding.....it is now used as museum for the City of Macon, Missouri
Niall Blee, Volunteer & Mentoring Coordinator from Include Youth, introducing the show to Primary 4 pupils from St Mary's Primary School, Strabane.
Three young people transformed into master puppeteers for a day as they showcased their very own ‘scallywag puppet’ show to a group of primary school pupils from Strabane.
Overall eight young people on Include Youth’s Give and Take Scheme were involved in the design, build, scriptwriting, sound and lighting, recording of voiceovers and puppeteer workshops over a three month period. On Tuesday March 11, Chantelle, Stephen and Amy on behalf of the young people involved performed their 30 minute puppet show to a group of Primary 4 pupils from St Mary’s Primary School.
The show, which tells the story of a bully, was based on some experiences of young people involved with the Give and Take Scheme, who felt it important to also explore what might be going on for a bully to make them act out in such a negative way.
Include Youth’s Give and Take Scheme supports young people aged 16 to 21 to improve their employability and increase in self-esteem and confidence. All young people involved in the Scheme need education, employment and training so projects such as this provide them with opportunities to learn new skills outside of their normal settings.
The Give and Take Scheme is supported by the European Social Fund (ESF) and Big Lotteries NI

the modeling positions are already filled. But they want to use my images in the gallery and told me that they will keep me in mind for any future positions. *crosses fingers*
This is a bummer. But at least I got some wonderful shots of us. Now I am dying to get a digital SLR!
This is what the Military Academy looked like in the beginning with the Railroad Track directly in front of it. The Still Hildreth Sanitorium was operating the facilities when this card was produced.
