Made me cave in, they making me wear a mask now
"But you're my favorite, my crazy beautiful blackout..."
I went to one of the darkest areas of New Jersey. As many of you know, NJ has a ton of light pollution, so most areas are not ideal for astrophotographers. This night was different. It was a new moon, and a severe thunderstorm rolled though. It knocked out power lines in this tiny bayside town. I doubt that I will ever get a chance to see such skies again.
This is a single shot with a 20 second shutter.
I debated to geo tag this photo. I ended up tagging this on flickr, only because I feel that the photographers here are more responsible, and will respect the people and nature in the area.

This is not a new photo, just posting to spread the word!
Partially in reference to the SOPA/PIPA legislation that could have a terrible impact on how we interact with each and access/share our lives through the internet and partially inspired by the splitting headache that I've had since noon. At about 2:30 this afternoon I felt like blackness was the only thing that could take away the pain from inside my head. Hate those kinds of headaches!
My bathroom sink looks like an oil spill.

Dusting off my custom collection I came across Blackout. Gave him a new head and took him to work for a few photos. Trying to finish up a few 'Noks that have been sitting around and retooling a few classics. Torque, Skunk, Slugger and Diesel are getting upgrades just looking for the right parts.

WINTER BLUES
Another day in the fog.
I pan the camera and it shows an image that irritates me.
No color. Everything is gray.
The fog feels like cotton wool and only reveals fragments.
Like a blackout after a night of drinking.
Due to a large power outage on 23rd December 2022 at 11.07 pm large parts of the city of Haarlem were dark. Only the cars driving by gave some light.
The power outage lasted until 24th December 2022 at 3.28 am.

This is a shot of my room, as it is right now.
We've been without power for a few hours, and there's no telling when it'll be restored. If this is the worst that happens to us as a result of this monster storm, I'll count our blessings. There's already been so much destruction from this hurricane and it's expected to continue throughout the night into tomorrow.
I probably won't be on until power is restored, having to conserve my phone's battery.
Until then, stay happy, stay safe. and keep on shooting!

I feel like I'm living a blackout episode in my life. When something hurts you so violently, that you're not able to feel anything anymore. You're just in shock.
I know I will recover from all of this. Soon or later.

A chacune de ses photos, elle nous livrait les poussières de son mal.
Malgré la lumière diffuse, malgré la blancheur et les couleurs douces, les ombres portées ne faisaient guère illusion.
La légèreté des silhouettes était inefficace.
L'instant était chargé, les conséquences lourdes à supporter. Tout le monde le savait, pas une seconde exposée ne pouvait faire barrage à ce qui la rongeait. Sur ses clichés, les moments semblaient agréables. Les photos étaient voyages, souvenirs.
L'endroit livré était magnifique: tout de vallon, de sauvagerie, et de poésie.
Dans son art, elle savait faire partage, suscitant l'envie d'en savoir plus, puisant au plus profond de nous une part d'imaginaire. Tout était de beauté, de tendresse.
Le rêve éveillé portait l'utopique.
Nous aimions partir avec elle, partager un instant la magie des images, mais aussi y revenir, au besoin, à notre aise. J'aimais ces paysages, ses ambiances. Parfois, elle nous offrait un portrait. Son visage semblait apaisé. Pourtant, son cœur était rongé du plus cruel des maux.
Il était parti, la laissant seule s'exposer...."

Because no one ever, having a different color of the skin, a diffferent religion, a different belief, a different sexuality should be ever EXECUTED like George Floyd has been, whatever the reason of the arrest may be, just because being different.
Executed, yes, because that was a execution, a sentence to death with no process by a man who is supposed to serve and to protect.
STOP the violence.
