Gaston urging on the villagers to "Kill the Beast" during the Beauty and the Beast Live Stage Show at the Theater of the Stars on Hollywood Blvd. in Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida.

I have been watching this show since the park opened and this was the best Gaston performance of them all. Check him out the next time you're visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios.

One more shot from the Flower and Garden Expo from my favorite of the recent Disney Classics. Of course, now I have that song stuck in my head.

About Beauty and the Beast

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

World of Disney. Collectibles Dept. Walt Disney Archives Collection Princess Note Cards by Enesco, $30. Beauty and the Beast.

I visited Disneyland this morning. It was in the 50s, cloudy with occasional light rain. My main goal was to get some of the enchanted rose sippers that debuted last Friday. I got there at about 8:30 am and went to Maurice's Treats in Fantasy Faire. There was already a line formed, waiting for the outdoor food cart to open at 10 am. I decided not to wait there, but went around to the newly opened Red Rose Taverne (formerly the Village Haus restaurant), and there was a pretty long line waiting for it to open at 11 am. I decided to come back later to try to get the sipper.

I decided to look for new pin releases in the nearby Westward Ho Trading Post pin shop in Frontierland. They had the Mickey Mouse Pin Trading Tales LE 2000 pin, the Tiki Room Doorways to Disney LE 4000 pin and the Jafar Essence of Evil LE 3000 pin, all of which were released last Thursday February 23. They also a many newly released Disney Princess Glitter pins (OE, $8.99). They included Snow White, Aurora, Ariel (human and mermaid forms), Belle, Jasmine, Rapunzel. Cinderella was already released a few weeks ago, and Merida late last year. Unfortunately, I found out when I got home, that I forgot to get the new Ariel pins :( , but I did get the others.

Then I went on my favorite ride, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. Some of the high value targets were out of commission, so I got a relatively low score, just below 700,000. I was surprised that I got on the top 10 list anyway #3. In fact was the Top Space Ranger of the day, at #3, since #1 and #2 scores were by anonymous riders.

I went back to the line at Maurice's Treats, which had wrapped almost completely around to the entrance to Fantasy Faire. Shortly afterwards, a Cast Member told us that the enchanted rose sippers were completely sold out resort wide. They would not be restocked today, and they didn't know when they would get another shipment. I was disappointed that I didn't get a sipper for myself and some of my collector friends, but hopefully they will restock them soon, and it won't be such a hassle getting them next time.

Then I visited World of Disney in Downtown Disney. I found a newly released Beauty and the Beast notecard set by Walt Disney Archives and Enesco ($30). It has a lovely cover with the stained glass image of the enchanted rose. Inside there are 20 notecards, 2 each of 10 designs. I will post detailed photos of the set later. There was also a new 2 piece Beauty and the Beast medium figure set ($95). It had the Beast in winter garb with butterflies on him, and a separate piece of Belle in her village outfit sitting on the ground with a book. It is nice but not outstanding, so I passed on it for now.

Belle & the Beast topiaries in France pavilion at Epcot during International Flower & Garden Festival

from Beauty and the Beast,1990

illustrated by Hilary Knight

2013 Singing Princess Dolls

US Disney Store

Future Release

Images found on the US Disney Store website of the upcoming 2013 Singing Princess Dolls. So far, I have found images of only 6 of the 11 official Disney Princesses. Except for Cinderella, they correspond to the 5 princesses featured in the 2013 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, which premieres in the D23 Expo on August 9, 2013. Another curious fact is that all but Ariel appear to be only 12'' dolls, and have sound mechanisms on their upper backs. Ariel is 17'' with the sound button in her hand, as was the case for all singing dolls in previous releases. Finally, all of them come with two complete outfits, and one or more sidekicks. Here is the list of the 2013 singing princesses so far:

Ariel, 17'' with Mermaid outfit and blue dress, brush, Flounder and Sebastian figures, hair extensions.

Belle, 12'' with pink winter outfit and blue dress, Mrs. Potts figure.

Cinderella, 12'' with pink dress and rags dress, Gus figure.

Jasmine, 12'' with purple and white dresses, Rajah figure.

Rapunzel, 12'' with pink and purple dress, and white and pink wedding dress, Pascal figure.

Snow White, 12'' with princess dress and rags dress, deer figure.

World of Disney. New Belle tee.

Classic Belle in DFC's Belle's outfit. I left Classic Belle's gloves on, but she doesn't have LA Belle's necklace. She is standing, supported by a Kaiser stand.

At the suggestion of a fellow doll collector, I put Disney Film Collection Ball Gown Belle's outfit on last year's (2016) Classic Belle doll. I leave Classic Belle's gloves on, but swap out her dress and shoes DFC's Belle's gown, petticoat and shoes. With the low heeled shoes, Classic Belle is a bit taller than the Emma doll, and the new ball gown is raised above the floor a little more than when it was on Emma. I show the dolls before the swap. Then I take their outfits off, and show them side by side next to their outfits. I dress Classic Belle in LA Belle's gown, and show her from all angles. Finally I show what the outfit looks like with Belle sitting on the floor, with her legs straight out in front of her, and the skirt fully extended around her.

A wrestling match goes on as the Kent State gymnastics team huddles on the floor mat at the third annual Beauty and the Beast event in the MAC Center on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015. The Kent State wrestling team beat Eastern Michigan University 25-9 and the Kent State gymnastics team beat Pittsburg 195.750 to 191.175.

The crabby Queen never thought she would meet her match until she met a hairy Prince with bad manners. The Queen threw the enchanted rose off the balcony, because she rather the Beast remain a beast, (no competition in the looks department then)
