I found this came out for me . :))

Colourful Jelly Beans reflected in a mirror against a sparkly black background. I've also focus stacked 5 images to get this one that's good enough to eat, and once I got the shot, that's exactly what I did! And I got a two-for-one, as both Jelly and Beans are 5 letters.

Here she is after she had a few tasty mealworms; Plump and happy. Chili Bean is a supreme being!

▶ "Apios americana — commonly known as American groundnut or potato bean— is a native perennial vine in the legume family (Fabaceae). It is native to North America from southeastern Canada south through Florida, west to Colorado. It grows in tidal and non-tidal marshes and wet thickets, on stream banks, and in bottomland forests.

The vine can grow 8-16 feet long. The flowers are usually pink, purple, or red-brown, and are produced in dense racemes [short floral stalks] 3-5 inches in length (7.5–13 cm). The plant's fruit, seeds, and large tubers are all edible."

Two days before, the Bean (Cloud Gate) was covered in snow, and we had to trudge through 6-8 inches of slop to get close to it.

I removed 45 people, including myself, from this image.

Different, but belonging together. "One of These Things is NOT Like the Others"

Last year Shirley created a small living roof above the storage shed for our LPG tanks. It really has thrived and produced a welcome splash of colour in that particular corner of the garden. It has also attracted a number of Black Bean Aphids, commonly known as Blackfly. They are minuscule and measure no more than 2mm but can appear in large numbers. Their effect on plants can cause them to wither and saps their growing power. This is a shot of one of them in which in which I have probably pushed the macro to its limit.

A little bit of online research revealed that a small amount of washing up liquid within a water dilute should help deter them and that has thankfully proved the case. I know ladybirds are better but at the moment we don't seem to have any in the garden.

These are beans from Compass Coffee, a roaster here in Vancouver, Washington and their Delirium blend. It was roasted a few days ago. For my moka pot coffee recipe:

Urbanus proteus on my lima bean plants

I am making Fifteen Bean soup tomorrow, so tonight I had to soak the beans. They were so pretty, I just had to get my camera out!

The blue bits are from an LED light I had coming in from one side. I couldn't get the blue out without messing with it for too long, so I left it in.

Macro Mondays theme: Granules

I haven't had much time to think about this theme this week, so perhaps this is an obvious choice. I ground some of the beans completely to get the granules, I partly ground others to get bigger parts, and included whole beans. Had to take it quickly before the light faded after the in-laws had gone home.

Many thanks for all your comments and favourites and HMM to everyone!

The Bean, Millennium Park, Chicago

The sculpture is actually known as Cloud Gate, and is the centerpiece of AT&T Plaza at Millennium Park. You wouldn't believe how difficult it can be to get a shot of this without folks getting in the shot. I ended up just masking them out in Photoshop using 3 separate images.

The modern method of growing certain Winter crops is to sow then in the previous years stubble. The moisture is retained better and is possible because of the use of the GPS system. These Beans given good rains will rise above the straw and yield a good harvest.

Bean soup mix macro.

Mesilla, New Mexico

1 pound dried black beans

1 tbsp olive oil

1 red onion - fine dice

1 purple carrot - fine dice

4 Chipotle chilies (canned in adobo sauce) diced

6 cloves garlic - micro-grated

1 tsp Mexican oregano

1 tbsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper powder

2 bay leaves

2 tsp chili - lime seasoning

1 can Rotel® tomatoes

juice of 1/2 lime

1 quart stock (I used turkey stock) \ additional water as needed

1 smoked turkey neck (optional)

Salt and black pepper to taste

Rinse black beans thoroughly. In a heavy bottomed soup pot add olive oil and sauté onion and carrot over medium heat until soft, about 8 minutes. Add garlic, oregano, cumin, and cayenne cooking for about another minute, until garlic is fragrant. Then add bay leaves, chili - lime seasoning, tomatoes, lime juice, and stock. Bring to a boil, and turkey neck if using and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 2 1/2 hours until beans are tender. Stir every 30 minutes and add water in order to keep beans just submerged. When finished cooking, shred meat from the turkey neck and return the meat to the soup if desired. Serve hot.

Garnish with sliced (or diced) avocado, brunoise onion, cilantro, sour cream, and pickled jalapeño slices.

The flowers die and the beans start growing. Tiny beans with a lot of growing to do. They are self pollinating.

Looking close on Friday theme: Spirals

Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊

The 10/15/18 theme for Macro Mondays is B-Food, meaning any food that begins with the letter B. Beans and broccoli are two of the seven food items that go into the salad I make every night, so this one was easy for me.
