I was soooo happy to make this ferry after getting up at 6:20 am and driving to Horseshoe Bay. I made great time but wasn’t guaranteed a spot on this sailing.

One immediately gets a sense of peace when walking amongst the giant Western Red Cedars (Thuja plicata) of the inland temperate rainforest in the central interior of British Columbia. The remnant old growth Cedar stands of the Interior Cedar Hemlock Ecozone can frequently be between 400-800 years old with trees in remote pockets found up to four metres in diameter with ages estimated well over 1000 years old. As the only inland rainforest ecosystem found more than 500 km from an ocean, it is unique in its heavy reliance on snowpack melt to maintain high levels of early season humidity. Love Life, Love Photography

A Misty Morning Sunrise at the Serpentine Fen South Surrey BC

Sunbreak light up horses and a valley after a gloomy day...the sun always comes back out

I was up around Hope BC this morning and the mountains were looking wonderful. I am not a landscape photographer but it is fun to try something different.

Saw these this morning on my dog walk.

A particularly severe example of this genre of building architecture (Brutalism). In Vancouver, BC. If I recall, I believe the main tenant of the building is an insurance company (appropriate, I think).

Four shot hand held stitch. Tough light. I am going to haul up the tripod earlier in the season sometime when I'm in better physical shape. It's a fairly strenuous (for me) short hike to this viewpoint. Thanks for the "exposure" on Explore.

Some shots that were never posted from fall 2021 during visit to Golden BC. Could not talk my wife into a revisit this year so decided to revisit my photos.

That spring the chickadees spent several days flitting through a sprawling old apple tree beside the house my girlfriend and I had rented on Vancouver Island. They were plucking and eating the blossoms. She was concerned that they would deplete the apple crop, but as it turned out, they were simply thinning the blossoms which created room for large apples to develop. I don't know what kind of apples they were - probably an heirloom variety - but I've never had better: huge, red, firm, very sweet but also tangy.

I used her camera for this shot - a Nikon D70. Although I'd been scanning my slides and negatives for years, this was my first foray into digital photography. I loved the immediacy (what a novelty!), although the 6 MP sensor didn't exactly knock my sox off. I still shot a lot of film that year. One year later Nikon released its 10 MP D200 and I made the transition full time.

Obviously we've come a long way in 17 years, but I'm pleased that the older work in my files isn't a total writeoff as far as quality goes. Although I don't think this shot ranks with my best, the Chestnut-backed Chickadee is a species I don't see here on the prairie, so I'm happy to have a number of shots in my collection.

Pitt Lake, Pitt Meadows, BC.

Taken on a quiet, early morning in July last year, where it was just myself and a family of river otters taking in the views.

I'm really trying to embrace the simple images more right now. The photos of quiet moments that don't tend to gather much attention, but that still hold your gaze for an extra second.

We just adopted two brothers who needed a home. They are older cats and seem to be taking to our strange ways.
