The BBC still doesn't get the web.
To be sure, I understand that it's necessary for the Beeb to shut down these comment sections after a certain time period (to stop spam, etc. Engadget has a 3 month cutoff I think?).
The real thing I'm pissed off at is the language. The BBC shouldn't have the attitude that the debate on any of their articles will ever be closed.
newsforums.bbc.co.uk/nol/thread.jspa?threadID=6223&&a...
"This Have Your Say is CLOSED" and "This debate is now closed" implies that the public (which pays £160 a year to the BBC btw) can only debate articles when the BBC says so.
Instead, they should close down the comments sections after 3 months (instead of a week or less as is the case here) and write "Comments will be shutdown after 3 months in order to prevent spam, but you can still comment on this article on your blog [insert link to technorati tag here]"
Anyway, my comment on the article would have been a comment about how ridiculous it is that the BBC wrote up Oxford's stupid debate about the existence of America. It was basically a fluff piece, and I expect more from the Beeb.
Have you seen the BBC’s programme Heir Hunters? It’s a programme about attempts to find heirs who are entitled to deceased peoples estates. The show follows probate researchers at work and how the results of a lot of time consuming research worked out.
Maybe you’re entitled to an estate!? Find out by contacting Fleetwood Heir Hunting Services on 0208 970 486 or visit the website via the link below.

I was lucky enough to work on the latest Holocaust memorial that was covered by the BBC in the fantastic Guildhall in London. Had to take some photos.
BBC Somerset were in town today, but whether or not it was for the Festival, I don't know.
The building behind the bus is the Cheese and Grain, where we're going tomorrow and again on Sunday.
Slightly cropped.
This was a complete surprise to see this Ford C-Max down in Beckenham on Saturday 25th February 2017; working for the BBC based in the Tees area as Middlesbrough were taking on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park; Palace went on to win the game 1-0
