Just caught the last of the light at this popular scene on the way to catch a green armadillo! First time I've noticed the BBC signage changing colour and it was doing it every minute or so.There were lots of people crossing the Bells Bridge going to the St Patrick's Day shindig at the Crowne Plaza so it was a bit tricky to time it for blue and in focus - the bridge vibrates a lot when just one person walks over.
I gave a couple of interviews this week on the BBC, plugging my new book. They were done by phone and I was in a little recording booth. Unfortuantely the booth was SO small that I couldn't take a picture of anything in there, except this.
Random slip of paper which fell out of an old magazine I bought recently. I think it may have been then that stickers came out which could be placed on the radio to indicate the new station positions?
Or, to use it's Edinburgh title, BBC Glasgow! Way back, before BBC Scotland moved to Queen Margaret Drive, Greenside in Edinburgh had been mooted as a possible location... Instead that remained a gapsite for forty years until Allan Murray built his critically acclaimed masterpiece, the Omni centre. Aren't we lucky?!
Whilst designed by David Chipperfield Architects, Pacific Quay (docks are never called 'dock' these days) Studios was completed by Keppie Design in a slightly controversial move which some say was an example of the BBC bottling-out of their much vaunted commitment to top-notch architecture. Suffice to say though, the quality of detail is still a delight in this somewhat deceptive building...
Pacific Quay is a completely modern name: the partially-filled dock that formerly occupied the site was known as Prince's Dock. It was the site of the 1988 Garden Festival: the subsequent permanent regeneration took almost twenty years to materialise.

Speaking to the BBC, Ms Williams said: "We organised this event because we are witnessing increasing discontent over BBC referendum coverage and we felt we needed to stand against this unhealthy bias.
"Whether Scotland votes 'Yes' or 'No', let it be based on facts provided in a fair and accurate way, not because people have been misguided."
She added: "The BBC should be doing what it says in its job description - being unbiased and impartial."
