We watched this chestnut-sided warbler feeding for several minutes. It was bouncing around a branch checking each leaf bud for insects.
Setophaga pensylvanica
The Chestnut-sided Warbler sings two basic song types: one is accented at the end (the pleased-to-MEETCHA song), and the other is not. The accented songs are used primarily to attract a female and decrease in frequency once nesting is well under way. The unaccented songs are used mostly in territory defense and aggressive encounters with other males. Some males sing only unaccented songs, and they are less successful at securing mates than males that sing both songs.

The method used for the window at the top is an alternative to the one in part 1. This bracket technique let you build in a four stud wide opening instead of making it six.
The bottom example is of course a pretty basic one, included here to demonstrate the two connection techniques, and the difference of having the visible studs or not.
Different variations of these techniques allows for different details. You just combine them cleverly for the desired effect.

My first black and white film through this camera. A few basic mistakes made along the way, including opening the camera back before I’d fully rewound the film. I’ll fess up on an individual photo basis as I post the images.
I used a yellow filter throughout the whole film, and adjusted the ASA to 200 on my light meter to account for filter factor.
This would be September 2024. A walk in Berkhamsted along the canal and back through the town. This is the rear of the Old Mill restaurant taken from the canal towpath.

Plasticwood Designs
Grimy ex-GWR Collett 57XX Class 0-6-0PT 3744 - with painted-on cabside number - at Oxley loco shed, with a very basic desgn of snowplough, on a cold wet day in February 1966.
The loco was withdrawn in August 1966, and scrapped in December. Sixteen examples have been preserved, including some that were sold on to London Transport.
Oxley shed closed down in 1967, but today (2022) much of the site is still in use for railway maintenance services..
Restored from an under-exposed cyan/magenta-colour-shifted original..
