View from Iidabashi Station (飯田橋駅) toward southwest with the stone base of Ushigome-mitsuke checkpoint (牛込見附) and the Sotobori moat installed with the railway tracks of Chuuou Line.

Despite intensive urban development, this area retains the original appearance of the citadel and Sotobori. The road in the photo leads to the Tayasu-mon gate of Kitanomaru compound where Budokan is located.

Mitsuke (見附) is a gate with a checkpoint often combined with a bridge over the moat. There were 8 gates in Edo, which were called -mitsuke. Similar checkpoints were often called -mon (門 gate) like Kita Hanebashi-mon and Hirakawa-mon.

Sotobori had been the physical boundary of the Samurai area during the Edo Period, which almost overlaps the present-day Chiyoda City except for the Kanda area that was part of Shitamachi, the downtown and commoners' area.

The left half of this photo belongs to Chiyoda City. Shinjuku City across the moat in the right and Bunkyou City outside of the frame are located outside of Sotobori. I don't know which City Iidabashi Station belongs to.

It was a silly conduct that the local governments of Bunkyou

and Shinjuku Cities decided to fill a short section of the outer moat in the opposite direction of this photo despite its historical, architectural and cultural importance of the neighbourhood.

The highly tangled-up intersection as uploaded previously is also located on the opposite side of Iidabashi Station.

This is an old WWII Air Force training base located in Picton ON Canada. Little had changed except for a few buildings that collapsed and tin roofs going on the others. It has been home to a number of small businesses.

It is now known as base 31 (Base31.ca) and is undergoing a major transformation with a museum, eateries, entertainment venues and housing projects.

The whole universe is based on rhythms. Everything happens in circles, in spirals.

Toronto based Alison Au is one of the top sax players in Canada. She won 2017 Montreal Jazz Festival TD Grand Prix de Jazz in addition to awards she won prior and after. Ostara project toured with some of the best jazz artist in Canada. These are all leaders, composers, songwriters and Montreal was last stop on this year tour. Some live on the West Coast and some live in the East, so getting together was a challenge. Here Toronto's Alison Au reacts to the amazing vocalisation of Shruti. Ah, that's where everyone was. As we walked up to the Town Hall we heard the murmur of people. It turned out that a local pub was absolutely full of people - the whole town could have been robbed! Thankfully, Michael and I are not robbers but it does seem as though we managed to visit the town without anyone noticing.

Stopped on my way home to take some pictures of the Snake River and the bridge into Twin Falls Idaho. I noticed a person on the wrong side of the railing, I looked through my camera and zoomed out to see more closely. I thought he was being stupid, or maybe committing suicide, then he jumped, thank God he had a parachute.

This poor old building used to have another sign behind this one. The building caught fire and the back wall has collapsed. There is no roof and I doubt any floors. Salt Lake Chocolates are still in business as far as I know. This sign will be gone sooner than later. Glad I caught it.
