The Golden Gate Bridge BART ad also includes a larger color version of this image, but without identifying the location. The houses and apartments shown don't seem to correspond to any actual identifiable buildings on Hearst.

ran into this guy yesterday in one of the underground pasageways of the Montgomery St BART station. unlike some of the people we get down there, he was really good and was belting out soulful blues as loud as he could. i listened for a bit, dropped a buck into his case and pulled out the old polaroid 600. when he saw it he flashed me the biggest smile, like, i can't believe that you're going to take my picture with that!

Blue locations are where almost all of the people on their way to BART stations are walking. Yellow locations are where almost all of them are on bikes, on transit, or in cars. Gray-green in between is where there is a mix.

Routes are approximate: shortest path from the trip origin to the station along TIGER (2010) roadways. Diagonals are especially suspect. BART passenger trip origins from the 2008 Station Profile Study, snapped to the nearest street corner.

Update: Whoa, check out this photo in Large and Original for all the details. I missed a lot of the nuance and just focused on the tunnel in the middle, but Ted opened my eyes to some of the more interesting background detail.
