I guess you can call this Hastings-style -- our neighbors in Vlad used to take a turn around the townhouses' parking lot with this very combination I guess just last spring, perhaps.
We covered about 12.3 miles with our newest scouts backpacking on their first campout with the troop. New and old did a great job!
There is nothing about this picture that I want for myself. No bald, gray hair. No baby. No carrying around a baby all day in a backpack.
The route we did begins on the large ledge on lower left above arching roof, then drops down via a pendulum to hit the chickenheads along the dark streak. Then up and to the right, hitting the top horizontal ledge at the far right of the face, then moving left to the tree in the crack, then up the crack to the top.

After waking up at beautiful Lake Katherine, we packed up camp and headed over Windy Pass to camp our second night below Puerto Nambe.

The event is called Backpack to Briefcase, which took place on Tuesday, April 14th in Latham Hall. This event was for graduating seniors to teach them about the world after college with topics including buying a car, 401ks, banking, buying a house, etc. Student walked around from table to table and spoke to each representative for about 10-15 minutes. Backpack to Briefcase was sponsored by Widener University's Career Services.
After leaving an official trail, we hiked up this overgrown old logging road to our campsite and several off-trail waterfalls. Daniel Boone National Forest.
They say above 3000m, the sky is much bluer from the thinner atmosphere. Indeed we could see patches of deep blue when the clouds opened up a bit, but pretty much the sky remained overcast the whole time we were in Zhongdian.
Still, compared to many areas of China that suffer from heat, humidity, and pollution, the air is really much clearer around Yunnan.
