New backpack. I loaded up the minimum for an overnight trip and headed out for a long trial hike. I love the new pack.

Red bandana is attached to the top handle of the pack. In an emergency the red handle is very easily seen and you know where to grab and go quick.

The pack features a 50 cm top zipper making access to the main compartment very easy. The front has a zippered pocket going the full width of the pack. The bag has two outside pockets, place for a laptop and inner pocket is perfect for carrying your cell phone, wallet, keys.
The bag has a strap attached at the top and bottom, with an adjustable slide to make it a comfortable fit at whatever length you prefer to carry it, slung over your shoulders. A web loop at the top of the bag makes it easy to grab and go.

Right before your trip wrap bag of frozen meat in newspaper and place in a small cooler bag. Pack a piece of aluminum foil and a lightweight grid. In Camp: When coals are glowing red and flames have died down, place steak on the grid. For medium-rare, cook 4 to 6 minutes on each side.

The "Women Backpacking Together" Meetup met at the Caribou Lake Trailhead in the Caribou Wilderness in the middle of the night... around midnight. Lorrie and I were there around 7:30pm so after we put up our tent and built a fire, we warded off the bears by making a lot of noise. Four plus hours! We were up around 9am and out on the trail around 11am. Got to our camp at North Divide Lake around 3:30pm and set in for a cold night. Snow all around but we found a nice meadow to camp in.

In going back through past camp pictures it was quickly apparent that footsore311 and I have frequented the coast a great deal over the years. I also used to use my hammock much more often. Pictured here is my Kelty external frame backpack - a piece of gear that I rarely backpack with anymore, minus when stripped of the backpack and utilized as a packboard for coastal cleanup events.
