~ Pacific Beach ~ Went back in time there with my son last wednesday ~
( our time machine disguised as a truck )
I am trying out this new version of paintshop pro and it has new filters and features...yay !!
This was Beach 69 in the early 1970's. It was the last house we rented in the summer before my brother started college.
As before, I was always out and about hanging out with a stray dog.
This was before they had a paved road to the area. The driveway to the house we rented was so rough, we parked near the power pole and walked in and out.
Ten years ago today, I started an account on Flickr with the 365 Toy Project, starring "Benny Bricks". He's from the 2008 Green Grocer modular set, but his name I made up. ;) I've been creating things (drawing pictures, making movies, building Lego) for as long as I can remember, but Feb. 28, 2010 was the first time I began to share my creations online. Ten years ago, I never thought I would be doing the same thing today, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm still doing it ten years from now and beyond. To all who have stopped by, "liked" or "faved" or commented...I appreciate you all. Thank you so much :)
Day 59
in the 1965. We stayed in Puako and as usual I was never in the house if possible and always wandering the 'rocks' by the ocean.
Also, as usual, I generally had some neighbor's dog or a stray by my side.
These shots were taken by my father.
We stayed at a house we rented from a friend in Puako.
The Pioneer Zephyr ran it's 1,000th mile record breaking non-stop between Denver, Colorado to the Chicago World Fair on May 26,1934. Total fuel cost was $14.64 for the entire trip. Who would think the U505-Sub would stay on the surface and the Pioneer Zephyr would take a dive.
I would like to dedicate this photo to the great Bulington Route historian The Late Ed.DeRouin.
EXCURSION FROM GARIBALDI TO ROCKAWAY BEACH RETURN TRIP
Rockaway Beach, Oregon
Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad (OCSR) is a unique heritage railroading museum in that it not only has static displays of engines and historic artifacts but also provides interpreted train rides along the coast. OCSR tells the story of the area, gives information about the wildlife, and stresses the importance of practicing environmental conservation so that others may continue to enjoy the beautiful North Coast of Oregon.
Join us for a 1.5-hour excursion along the scenic Tillamook Bay and the Oregon Coast between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach. You can board at either Rockaway Beach or Garibaldi. Pulled by one of our historic steam or diesel locomotives, this excursion offers a relaxed ride along the Oregon Coast and a step back in time.

I appreciate your visit and any faves or comments are always greatly appreciated...so thank you very much!

Two local men ride a horse-drawn cart along a dusty road in the sun-drenched Kalahari landscape of Namibia, offering a wave as they pass under the vivid blue African sky.
My sister Betty and I stumbled across a reconstructed "Little Pioneer Village" yesterday and had a really great time exploirig the cabins and buildings as well as talking to the people there who were dressed in pioneer outfits and some were quilting, sewing or just relaxing in their rockers. Pictures to follow, I am sure. This was one of the windows in the general store.
Sanneizaka is another famous pathway to Kiyomizu-dera. Just like Nineizaka, Sanneizaka feels like old Kyoto where stores here offer many traditional Japanese souvenirs and food.
You can easily spend hours just visiting each store. As I passed by here, I found a pretty good store that sells good matcha drink and mochi snack! Unfortunately, I didn't have time to go every shop as I needed to rush to Kiyomizu-dera before the closing time.
Location: Sanneizaka, Japan (Kyoto)
Years ago, I was still teenager, I started using the old Exakta Vx500 of my father. Complete with a Meyer-Optik Görlitz Domiplan f/2.8 and a Meyer-Optik Görlitz Orestor 135mm f/2.8.
We are talking mid 1990's and this camera was already really outdated back then. But it was still a big improvement over the simple snapshot cameras and disposable cameras I used before the Exakta.
Heavy, all metal, full manual and with all controls on the left side. Now I had to think about a shot. Measure the light with my handheld Sekonic light meter or use the Sunny 16 rule. What setting do I use? Focus, and take the shot.
I learned a lot from that camera and I used it well into the 2000's. Until the shutter mechanism got slower and slower. I would get half a curtain in the frame, or it would simply stay open for too long. The Exakta's way of telling me it was time for retiring it.
I still have it though and the Orestor is still in use as it is one of my favorite vintage lens.
I want to go back to analog film photography, so I bought myself an old Pentax Me including the SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7 for less than €20, just to find out that a good color film is more expensive these days...
Following the smell of an open fire, we found ourselves in the kitchen of the Tudor House at the Weald and Downland Living Museum.
This lady was dressed in period costume and was happy to inform us of what would have been happening back in the day, from the baking of bread and pies to the brewing of ale.
I loved the way the light from the door was illuminating her.
