RD28081vid. B.R. built Type 4 1Co-Co1 Class 45 ‘Peak’ Diesel-Electric 45041 ROYAL TANK REGIMENT arriving at Wansford Station, the headquarters of the Nene Valley Railway in Cambridgeshire.
It was just finishing a round trip of the line via Yarwell and Peterborough.

This view is due northwest. It shows a new paved access road which was created along the west side of the now long trackless 2-track former NYW&B Railway path which parallels the west side of the former New Haven RR - now AMTRAK R-o-W .
The Red arrow shows a clearing along the river - maybe to store construction vehicles. The White arrows show the new roadway path. The Yellow arrow shows where the new road goes under the E.174th St roadway Bridge to enter the some years earlier newly built- Starlight Greenway Park. The Bronx River is at left.
2011/04/23.RD5906. 08 class 0-6-0 diesel-electric 350 hp shunter 08 604, now named PHANTOM at the Didcot Railway Centre in Oxfordshire.
It was built by B.R. at Derby Works in 1959 and spent its working life at Tysley, near Birmingham.

From Mickey at Win OT Facebook - "FIRST ACROSS THE LINE IN THE RACE TO PRE-REGISTER: Bob and Judy Moore are first to cross the line in this year's Winchester Speedway Old Timers Reunion pre-registration. The Moores have supported the WOT for many years so it is not surprising that the postman brought their registration form to us first. The Moores will be showing their 1933 "big car" built by Californian Ray McDowell for customer Johnstone-Pritchard Speed Shop in Patterson, New Jersey. The car was delivered to the customer in the Spring of 1934 and thereafter campaigned on the East Coast in AAA-sanctioned events with drivers like Bob Sall, Ed Staneck, and Ted Horn. The car was later purchased by B.R.Rasor of Glendale, California and eventually returned to the West Coast where it was piloted by drivers Chris Vest, Red Clark, Louie Tomei, and others. The engine in this car is a rare 16 valve, dual-overhead camshaft, McDowell head on a Model B Ford block with dual Winfield up-draft carburetors. The body is all hand-formed aluminum. This fabulous car will be on display in the infield at Winchester Speedway during the Old Timers Reunion July 4-5-6 this year

as an example, hold on to your wallet, the 6-day 'Cornwall & Wales' event, costs £12,600 per passenger, so for a twin room, that's over 25 grand! it includes luxury accommodation, fine dining and 'exciting excursions' and it is, of course, a sleeper train. The next date for this event, is on 6th March, next year, the one on October 17th this year is sold out! If you want the 'Grand Suite' with separate bedroom, living room and en-suite, that's a whopping £30,600 per adult.
So, a bit of an 'eye-opener' as they say, for me at least.
Whilst waiting for the 'Explorer' to arrive, I was chatting to one of the local 'enthusiasts' and he informed me the coaching stock on this train, is ex-Irish Mark 3A, which have had to be modified for gauge, the Irish gauge being 1,600mm (5ft 3in) and that of the UK is 1,435mm (4ft 8.5in); I assume therefore this would have been a significant change-over when the coaches were brought here..
Today's excursion is a 4-day event starting out at London Victoria on Friday the 5th September and terminating back there on Monday the 8th. Here are the workings-
1Z20 Day1/4, London Victoria(15:48) to Keighley(00:38). 5th/6th September.
1Z80 Day2/4, Keighley(08:55) to Penrith North Lakes(12:24). 6th September
1Z82 Day2/4, Penrith North Lakes(18:40) overnight at Appleby, then Ribblehead Station(10:17). 6th/7th September.
1Z26 Day3/4, Ribblehead Station(10:26) to Princess Risborough(18:26), overnight at Princess Risborough. 7th September.

G.B.R.f. are the locomotive company providing the power with class 66s 66744, 'Heart of Wales' and 66748, 'St. Michael's Mount' hurrying back south on the old goods line along platform 4 with the 'Britannic Explorer' on 1Z26, Day3/4, from Ribblehead Station to Princess Risborough ACE.
Also passing south on the platform 2 line, at about the same time is contrasting traction with a pair of Transpennine Trains class 185s 185145 & 185108 on the hourly Cleethorpes to Liverpool Lime Street service, this one 1B77.
Back in the days when British Rail actively catered for the travelling public by laying on special trains.
These trains shown here were run from various parts of Scotland to English seaside destinations such as Morecambe, Scarborough and the ever popular Blackpool for the traditional late September Scottish Holiday weekend aka 'The September Weekend'.
Sadly now the privatised railway dosent cater for all customers choosing only to run trains for profit and not as a service, with bus companies the winners.
I still see a fair few people passing through Preston during the summertime and late September heading to Blackpool but nowhere near what it was like years ago.
A York bound D.M.U. awaits departure time at Manchester Victoria whilst another D.M.U. waits on the right hand side of the platfrom.
