From Colin ‘Pib’ Pibworth’ s collection of >1700 slides recalling his time in the RAF Mountain Rescue Service at Valley, Khormaksar, Sharjah & Masirah plus an early tour in Gan c1955; kindly scanned in by Alister Haveron. Braggett to the University of Newcastle on October, 1975. It is held by Cultural Collections at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia.

Hi all. Was out of town on a visit to B. R. Hills and K. Gudi and hence couldn't visit your streams and comment. Please excuse. Hope to catch up with you all very soon.
The waste disposal policy at Millerhill Marshalling Yard seems to be to shove everything over the side of the retaining embankment for the yard. In amongst the piles of rotten sleepers there are these wonderful old Engineer's ladders, proudly painted with their size, function and owner in British Railways regulation Gill Sans and civil engineer's yellow.

A. Robinson & Co (Westminster) Ltd were contractors on behalf of B.R. to dispose of spent railway ballast. The sidings were located at Woolston, adjoining the B.R. Southampton to Fareham line, just north of Woolston station. A pre-war Hunslet 0-4-0 diesel mechanical (W/No.1858 of 1937) was used from circa 1960, replaced by this John Fowler 150hp 0-4-0 diesel-mechanical (W/No.22288 of 1938), acquired from Joseph Pugsley & Sons, Stoke Gifford, Gloucestershire circa 1969. Its use at Woolston was limited and by the end of 1971 it had been scrapped, shunting replaced by B.R. locos.
