Der Axel Springer-Neubau in Berlin ist seit dem 6. Oktober 2020 offiziell eröffnet. Exakt vier Jahre nach dem Baustart und 54 Jahre nach Einweihung des gegenüberliegenden goldenen Verlagshochhauses ergänzt der kubusförmige Bau den Axel-Springer-Kiez, das Ensemble der verschiedenen Räumlichkeiten am Hauptsitz des Medien- und Technologieunternehmens. Der Axel-Springer-Neubau steht in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zu den bestehenden Verlagsgebäuden zwischen Axel-Springer-, Schützen-, Zimmer- und Jerusalemer Straße. Er befindet sich somit im Herzen des früheren Zeitungsviertels und auf dem ehemaligen Verlauf der innerdeutschen Grenze, der sich quer durch das Gebäude zieht. Mit dem Neubau rückt die Axel-Springer-Familie in Berlin zusammen. Das ermöglicht eine engere Vernetzung und einen besseren Wissensaustausch. Die außergewöhnliche Architektur steht nicht nur für die Zukunft des Arbeitens, sie ist auch Symbol für die digitale Transformation von Axel Springer.
Der Entwurf für das moderne Bürogebäude stammt vom renommierten niederländischen Architekten Rem Koolhaas (Office for Metropolitan Architecture), der sich in einem vorausgegangenen Planungswettbewerb gegen 17 Architekturbüros durchsetzte. Der lichtdurchflutete Bau in Kubusform steht in unmittelbarer Nähe zu den beiden Hochhäusern und zur Axel-Springer-Passage. Das Gebäudeinnere ist durch miteinander verbundene Terrassen und ein 45 Meter hohes Atrium geprägt. The Axel Towers, built in 2016, are the latest architectonical landmark of Copenhagen. They comprise five round towers of various heights grouped together. The maximum height is 61 metres. The façade elevation is divided by horizontal and vertical tombac pilaster strips.

Axel Towers, a peculiar looking office building complex in the middle of Copenhagen, just next to the bustling Tivoli. Although the towers look nice from street, the most interesting angles are probably from the bottom or top of the towers. Just look at the play of shapes and lines!
