When it's the day of hearts, but your girlfriend's doll shell still has about five months' production time left on the clock.
Awkward. Awkward composition. Awkward expression on my face. And just awkward in general to take self portraits. But for some reason, this one stuck with me. I was trying on my outfit for my senior portrait, and I decided to throw up the lights and take a few frames. Processed it in Photoshop and Nik Silver Efex. I really need to start trying branching out my strobist work to a place outside my room, haha.
On a side note, I really don't like the color disparity between my iPad and my laptop monitor. The warmth and contrast difference between the two is enough to completely change the processing look. Too bad the entire world isn't calibrated to the same setting. What you see isn't always what you get. Meh.

This Silver Gull seems to be at an impasse. Unable to swallow the huge piece of bread it stuffed into its mouth, the gull kept bouncing its neck up and down stubbornly refusing to spit out its prize.

This was an interesting day. We started off by going to an air museum next to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar but we were turned away by two armed Marine guards. That was weird. We then went to La Jolla Cove. Beautiful day for a stroll - just us and bunch of Chinese tourists. We gave them a wide berth. Heather and I love watching the waves roll in - it has such a calm and soothing effect. Life is good.
We later found out that planes were flying into Miramar carrying Americans evacuated from Wuhan, China for quarantine. We have such a bad sense of timing!
I took these photos in early February 2020.
