You know that feeling sometimes, when you're drifting off to sleep...when you're right on the edge of lucidity...that moment when you start to feel the weight of your body disappear as you gently fall and let go? Well I had that sensation the other morning, as I was waking up!! I felt euphoric and free, and I was lucid enough to "feel" the sensation of "Falling Awake"! It was the most bizarre experience. I felt completely at peace, my body and mind were floating in the air. I had this feeling that life is so beautiful, and I am so blessed. I felt grateful and full of love. I smiled, with my soul.
I am practicing smiling with my soul, for a few minutes each day. Perhaps in sharing this experience, I will plant a seed that you will try doing so too. "Let It Be", see the beauty of life, have gratitude and "fall awake" every day!
This shot, is untouched as with most of my shots. It is our Don Juan Rose which is leggy and thorny by nature, but the blooms are just the Mack Daddy! Hmmm, Ying and Yang...coincidence??? I think NOT!

Rovaniemi, where I live and work, is a small city in North Finland near the Arctic Circle.
During winter, which is almost half a year, the city is frozen covered with white snow, that can simplify and smooth forms of the world, and reflect more shades of colors.
This surrounding awakes my sense, and extreme coldness makes distance from many things, which somehow foster my concentration on creation.
Part of a series I shot at a motel in upstate New York. The rest will be shown on my website. www.alexanderyerks.com
