Victorian style shopping arcade in Sydney.
From the glass roof, blue-hour sky and big city buildings can be seen (auto-tag says "skyline". Sort of... )
Macro Mondays Crystal
Champagne glass reflection. I sat the glass on my iPad screen to get the reflection. Came out better than I thought.
Love the flickr auto tags!! "animal" "bird" - where did it get that from?
Edible pressed flower on the cookie (I think cherry blossom 🌸 )
Not that big, I mean this ceramic bird is very little 🐦

Right auto-tag was given ☺︎
I’ve always been rather attracted to this Papermate propelling pencil because of its transparent barrel and the details of the spiral mechanism for extruding the graphite. Oh, and the colour… So I could hardly resist when the spiral topic came around again for Macro Mondays.
A bit of a rush job though - one take and then a patch-up in the processing. Had I had more time I think I would have used a tripod and focus stacking (or a different lens). Ah well…
This is vaguely what I intended, or at least an inch and half of it anyway. The full pencil is more interesting :)
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Macro Mondays :)
Happy Slider Sunday!
This is not outdoors, despite the auto-tag. Like most of my abstracts, this is a drab distressed floor in a former industrial space that has been re-purposed as an art studio &/or gallery. Increasing the sensitivity to small variations in illumination and reflectance has interesting effects.

Went a little abstract this week. Used a piece of paper to diffuse the light source and create the contrast needed to light the diagonal.
HMM! Starts with the letter D.
Purple weed flowers (purpletop) sticking out of the railway fence.
Auto-tag says "people" and "portrait" ^o^
Happy Fenced Friday
Superb Fairy-Wren (male)
This is actually another Superb bird.
So little (14cm or 5.5 in) that even though it's angry not scary at all^^
Female one (next photo) received auto-tags "bird" and even "songbird" but this one received only "animal". To me it's a "toy"^o^
Briar rose plant (eglantine, Rosa rubiginosa) naturally vignetted by an Autumn sunbeam in shady corner. OK, aided and abetted by more vignette in post.
Looks like I've defeated flickr's auto-tagging. Not even 'outdoor' this time.

Another in the store front series. Kind of strange that the marquee above is obscure, and there's no clear indication of the name of the store. Only noticed when posting that the words "dry goods design" are barely discernible in the reflection on the window at right, and Google Maps confirms that's the name. Human observers will not make the robot auto-tagger's mistake of mis-assigning the type of shop.

Another lurid self-indulgence on my part for Sliders Sunday today. It's all about leaf veins... er... or wasn't that obvious?
This is a leaf. Mangled.
One of my usual approaches recently: duplicate the image layer and then set the top layer to Difference blend; then use a Liquify adjustment (much easier in Affinity Photo, at least for me) on the top layer. That creates a lot of crazy colours. To make it worse I then added HSL adjustment layers to the whole thing and also to the individual layers.
There was a little bit more skullduggery but I have confessed to the main bits here. Honest! ;)
To give you a clue: you can see the main vein of the original leaf going up the diagonal as a dark line. There is also a sinuous yellow line - that's the same vein after it was liquified by me pushing and pulling pixels in the adjustment :)
Original linked in first comment.
Thanks for even looking. Hope you enjoyed the fun. Happy Sliders Sunday :)
A quick tingle of your retinal cones for this week’s Sliders Sunday mangle. It’s an image of a yellow dahlia taken on my phone some years ago, mirrored in Mirrorlab (an Android app which is an interesting playpen full of toys), and blitzed with Nik Color Efex (solarisation and bicolor filters being the usual culprits of this sort of bling).
Hmmm… My sentences are assuming Dickensian proportions.
And the title? Well, my auto-tagger suggested pasta for the camera image (linked in the first comment). Who am I to disagree?
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image with your UVB-blocking, heavy-duty sunglasses. Happy Sliders Sunday :)
(79/366) The burgeoning collection of lucky stones on my mantelpiece, I try to bring at least one back from every beach trip. I spread them out for this photo, usually they are in a pile & I like to rearrange them occasionally so each gets a chance to be at the top. Sometimes I talk to them (shhhh don't tell anyone).
This week I brought 3 new ones back from Morriscastle beach in Co. Wexford (the longest single stretch of beach in Europe incidentally). One stone has a small indentation & could easily be made into a pendant I'm sure. I just remembered as a small child how I used to paint stones I found in the garden & my Dad would varnish the end result. Funny how something can trigger a distant hidden memory.
Flickr Auto-tagging has excelled itself yet again.

I haven't found the lizard yet....
The auto tagger must be reading the scaly feathers as reptilian.
My eyes look all puffy like that when I've just got out of bed too...
Auto tags are playing up... Hope they disable this feature, it's p-ants.
Just a quick one for Macro Wednesday, a dog rose taken this time last year using the little camera and close-up attachment.
Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Mittwochsmakro :)
I haven't seen her since, but I was happy that she was helping get rid of moths.
Flickr auto tagged this as food. An accidentally accurate description.
There is never a dull moment with Pixie. She is still very kittenish and loves to play games. Phill and I were discussing the perils of putting a Christmas tree up this year as she loves knocking things onto the floor and anything that glitters and shines is fair game to her. Luckily we only have a small tree so not much damage I would hope.
Phill is in London this weekend with a friend so I am going to do something which I keep turning my back on, which is to clean the oven. The weather is good over the weekend, so I will take myself into the Forest early on Sunday morning to see if there are any photo opportunities.
Happy Furry Friday
Wishing you all a weekend of getting on down to it
ps - love the auto tags - landscape, stream and water
In the hazy atmosphere far away is the Cityscape of Surfers Paradise. Risen like a mirage....
From Currumbin Beach towards Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast QLD Australia
Auto-tag says "vehicle" but I can't see any vehicle in here (boat, either)
A touch too stark?

(33/366) Spotted these in Lidl, ideal for the Weekly Colour Challenge theme this week is Orange www.flickr.com/groups/myweeklycolourchallenge/ I reckon Flickr auto-tagger has been on the gin? Vehicle?
The weather forecast the night before this shot was taken said "patchy" early morning fog. Lucky they didn't say it was going to be thick!! The auto tags came up with monochrome. It's actually colour.
Young Noisy Miner on the bench
Auto-tag says "songbird" but this is not a song bird but a noisy bird. Very cute noisy bird.
A snapshot from 1934 as shown on the auto tag.
This is the girl on the right in the other picture.
Some favorites in the OLD PHOTOGRAPHS SET
Another image of nothing much.
But interesting in spite of that. I like exploring the textures...
Like many abstracts, the fun is in the imagination rather than the image. Just what is it? Martian dunes and dust-devils? Or fabric as the auto-tagger would like? Wallpaper?... No, I think not.
In case you are wondering what the reality is, it’s a wobbly picture of the surface of a muddy lane I was walking along… or was I a satellite?
Thank you for taking the time to look… at nothing again. Hope you are well. Happy 100x :)
This was all I got from the superduper blodmoonhunting.. Haha..
At least I knew the moon was still up there. That was a bit helpful.. :p
I fell asleep in the car shortly after this. On a parking lot next to a graveyard on the outside of Senja.
Well well..
I see flickr auto tag system labeled this "blackandwhite". But it's not.. This is full color!
I know it’s Monday and I shouldn’t really be playing but in my defence it is a public holiday here :)
This is another mangle of one of the oil droplet pictures from Saturday. I find they’re interesting as source material for patterns and textures, particularly the marbly oil mixtures ones. At least it makes up for my lack of competence at proper oil drop ones!
This is a mixture of Nik Silver Efex and Color Efex (with solarisation and a bicolour filter as the major players). I had a hunch that converting to monochrome would work with the marblely ones and it proved to be so, especially with split toning afterwards.
Thanks for pausing to look. I hope you like the image. Happy Monday!
I can assure you that despite the sunset tag inserted by Flickrs auto tags thingy, this is most certainly a sunrise :-D
An impression of sea and water. Again a texture of an old agave-leaf.
This time the flickr auto-tags see it too ;-)
People always make a story in a wobbly camera image like this, and that often seems to make it more accessible to the viewer. The trouble is getting the people to appear at the right place at the right time…
This was taken at the fountain lake in the RHS garden at Wisley last month. I like the way the perspective works in the picture and the way the crowd seem to be admiring the fountain…
For my 2022 100x Wobbly Camera project. I added a paper texture...
Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy 100x :)
This is pretty much SOOC apart from a quick slide through my Nik software. I'm interested to note that flickr's auto tags have described it as surreal.
Happy Sliders' Sunday to all flickr folk.
Common Malachite beetle courtship. The female eats a secretion produced by excitators on the male antennae!
Always pleased to spot this each year! :-)

Stupid auto tags! Dragonfly indeed!!!!
And an off topic thing as a description. Flickr auto-tagging...which conducts search using 'Magic View'. I just looked at MY magic view statistics. According to it, I have 34 cat photos and 27 dog photos in my stream. In point of fact I have NONE OF EITHER.
Auto-tagging labled Blue Jays, Moths, ducks and geese, deer, and even Kachina Dolls as either dogs, cats, or both.
I'm working back through the photos deleting the tags...but doing that for 6000 photos will take a very long, wasted time.
This set of manglings for Sliders Sunday is all based on a wobbly camera shot of the red tulips in the bed in front of my house. They are a real riot of colour in their day and often make me realise that Spring is fully established and summer is near. They’re so cheerful.
Apart from the plain edit (I) they are all created using Topaz Studio and the Remix filter. This is an interesting filter in that it purports to rejig an image in the style of various artists. I have my doubts, and many of the multitude of options look quite similar. It starts to get more interesting though if you combine it with other filters and effects or just mix it with the original edit using reduced opacity.
I hope you enjoy the set. Do say if there is one that you prefer.
As usual for Sliders Sunday I’ll post a link to the original in the first comment.
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy 100x and Sliders Sunday! :)

He was on one hilltop, and we were on another. I am shooting laying on a rock, with ants crawling over me. Best morning ever! ( Tom gets credit for spotting this amazing animal)
Just after sunrise on a very hot day (42C) and a couple of ponies were being cooled down in the sea. The soft sunlight on this particular beauty caught my eye.
Not every day you see two horses in sea!
#51 Animal
Such a nice smile.
Flickr's auto-tag engine calls this image "surreal". I'd agree.
See related pic at www.flickr.com/photos/blindhogmike/28694606636/in/photost... This is the same dragonfly, different crop and slightly different angle. I think this crop looks better on a phone.
Columbia, SC, USA.
This is a koala in its natural habitat in the Adelaide Hills. A 20 minute drive from the city centre and a 5 minute walk up one of the many tracks and trails and you should easily spot quite a number of these beautiful animals.
Despite what many say, they are NOT bears.
They are also not "pet" and "cat" as auto-tagged by flickr :)
The salty landscape of an evaporation basin near Renmark in South Australia.
The much better water management has resulted in less water being discharged from drainage of irrigation areas and the drying up of the overflow.
The really clever auto tags of Flickr have added the tags giraffe, grass and field.
