My 18 year old son will be leaving very soon for school and used our new magnetic poetry to make this. He wants to be an auto mechanic "when he grows up". Actually, he used to tell people he wanted to be a 'cool car salesman' when he grew up...cool cars were hot rods and classics we enjoyed at car shows. He is grown now and cars are still his goal.
I'm gonna miss him. Two boys out on their own...this is what we raise them to do, right?
*the poetry is a thrift store find that I got today. I have wanted some of these for a long time and at .95 cents I couldn't pass em up. Not a lot to choose from in this set, which makes me want to get more sets so my fridge will be covered in wisdom and witticism. A creative canvas for quips and quotes, notes and nonsense. Oh yes, I definitely need more of these*

My friend from work.....a mechanic and quite a Harley Man. He would buy and rebuild for profit and always went to Sturgis each year with his wife and a group of friends. This picture was taken on a short trip to the Bahamas that my wife and I took with them a few years ago. A scene as we were leaving one of the ports during the trip. He is sitting on a deck chair on a small restaurant balcony.

The driver's side window came off it's track (the joys of having a 41 year old car). It's done it before and it was hell to fix. Essentially it's a trianulated pulley system where a wire and chain is connected through a lower and upper wheel. The crank which has gears moves the chain up and down which raises and lowers the window. Putting it all together in the dark with your hands in the door is hell. I got it after two hours of pateint frustration.
My brother Mike looking at the tiny engine of the Renault. He would later become an automechanic and always loved to work with machinery. This car could get 35 miles/gal but had serious difficulty maintaning speed uphill with all four of us in the car.
