Tully Church is located in Laughanstown, sometimes spelled Lehaunestown or Lehaunstown.
Tomorrow I am travelling to Galway and I decided that I would bring a Sony 28-135 G lens and I am willing to bet that few people are aware of this lens. Anyway, I decided to give it a try this this morning and discovered that my sensor had hundreds of dust spots that showed up as I approached f/22. I decided that it was best to have it professionally cleaned. At 3PM when I collected my camera I decided to get the LUAS to Laughanstown where there is an ancient church and graveyard.
When I returned home I discovered that there had been an autofocus problem and about 50% of the images were unusable. I was really surprised but after much investigation I discovered that the camera was somehow been reset during the sensor cleaning process and it was using version 1.01 of the firmware instead of the version 3.0 [the most recent version is actually 3.01]. This was a serious problem as attempts to upgrade in the past have failed and I had to bring the camera to my local dealer to be upgraded. Some of my lenses will not work correctly with ver 1.01 so I had to try to upgrade at home and much to me surprise the upgrade actually worked.
A few hours ago I tested the lens by taking some photographs on Henrietta Street and have decided that there is actually a problem so I may need to select another lens.
The SF7 (SF10 in some territories) is an autofocus 35mm film SLR made by Pentax, from 1988. It is intended for use with Pentax 'F' series (KAF lenses. It offers several exposure modes:
Programmed AE
Shutter-priority AE
Aperture-priority AE
Metered manual exposure
Programmed or shutter-priority AE require camera control of the lens aperture, and so are only available if an F-series lens is mounted. Earlier series lenses can be used for other modes, but will not support all the functions:
A-series (KA) lenses support most functions, including shutter-priority and programmed AE.
M-series (simple K mount) lenses do not support shutter-priority or programmed AE.
42 mm screw-mount lenses (with a screw-to-K-mount adapter) can be used; the camera switches to stop-down metering. No AE modes can be used.
Auto-focus can be used with any of the K mounts if they are mounted with the AF Adpater 1.7X, provided the lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 or wider. In manual focus, the focus indicators in the viewfinder work for any of these lenses with maximum aperture of f/5.6 or wider. Neither auto-focus or the focus indicators work with screw-mount lenses.
Settings are displayed in an LCD panel on the rear of the prism, and selected using a mode button (to the left of the prism) and a selector switch(knurled wheel-like switch next to the shutter release) to adjust the settings within each mode. The mode is selected by pressing the switch to the left or right, while pressing the mode button. Settings within each mode are then adjusted using the selector switch.
The camera has a vertical-travel focal plane shutter, with speeds between 30 seconds and 1/2000 second in AE; 1 second - 1/2000 second, plus 'B', in manual. There is no conventional cable release socket; an electronic cable release is available for use with 'B' and other slow shutter speeds. Flash synchronisation is at 1/100 second. The camera is compatible with a range of dedicated Pentax flashes, and supports programmed auto flash or TTL metered flash according to the flash's capabilities. There is a small folding built-in flash (Guide Number 12 in metres at ISO 100). There is a flash-ready indicator in the viewfinder. There is a hot shoe, behind the shutter release.
The camera reads DX-coded 35 mm film, and accepts speeds between ISO 25 and ISO 5000. If non-DX-coded film is loaded, the speed is set to ISO 100.
Auto-focus is switchable, with a switch on the left of the lens mount.
The camera has a built-in film motor winder. A button next to the mode button selects between single-frame and continuous shooting, and also controls the self-timer. Powered film rewind is not automatic (there is a switch and button for rewind on the base).
The camera requires a 2CR5 6V battery or equivalent.
I couldn't get the camera to lock on this biker and he was coming by pretty quickly. After I downloaded this, I realized that it focused on the very tip of my spoiler! D'oh! Hey, who needs a great biker shot when you can have a nice shot of a spoiler tip.

Autofocus picked his back! :( I set it on center point after this but he never picked his head up again.
Pileated woodpecker
Dryocopus pileatus
The autofocus kept focusing on the hemlock branches rather than the woodpecker so all I got were these blurry pictures of the pileated woodpecker.
I stepped into a small opening of the forest canopy and suddenly I noticed that branches were flinching and birds were singing and that there was a wave of birds of all types swirling around in the trees above me. Woodpeckers, chickadees, Sparrows, Juncos, Pee Wee, and so many more could be heard. A pair of Chickadees flew up from the forest floor and flapped so close to my face I could feel the wind from their wings. Everybody was darting around so fast that I struggled to get any decent photos. I saw the wood pecker and zoomed in and thought I got a nice shot. When I got home all I got were blurry pics. I love Hemlocks and all but I didn't want them here. Anyway this wave of birds lasted about 20 minutes and then they were gone. A rare moment,
Two shots taken on One Shot AF, same mode, one right after the other, refocusing after each shot.
In both cases the AF indicated that the focus lock was near the middle of the image, however one image is properly focused and the other is extremely back-focused.
One of the close to modern Polaroid Cameras produced by the original company that has that classic Type-600 Clamshell design! Not to mention modern enough to be still running after a decade or two.
