autofocus dieded on this shot

a couple of weeks ago in Brooklyn.

A 3 minute video is terrible, I know it. In the AutoFocus couldn’t tell the difference in the light and bumped it in the middle.

I was trying not to fry the camera. I turned it on when it got dark and temperature got colder.

The clouds moved, and at the very second the eclipse started. What a blessing!

What started out as a crystal-clear day became worrisome at about 1:30 p.m., as clouds rolled in and threatened to obscure the view. However, the cloud cover held off just enough for the BBA class to enjoy all the phases of the eclipse, and the full two minutes and 30 seconds of totality.

“We were amazingly lucky that the students could experience full totality,” Hershatter said, noting that just 90 seconds later would have obscured the event.

Instead, at the moment of totality, the sky was still clear. The corona flared and students were able to remove their glasses and view the glow around the moon.

“When our BBAs experienced totality, there was a collective gasp and then a cheer,” Hershatter said. “It was an amazing, goosebump-inducing, bonding occurrence, and it was augmented by the fact that because of the clouds, we weren’t sure if we would be able to view it or not.”

Autofocus is not my friend. Ignoring that, here is the first piccie of Uni-Jado with her wig and horn on. She came assembled as a child. My next mission is to restring her centaur parts. The pressure!

Panoramas work well, the road is straight but this view gave it a radius

Autofocus focused on the wrong area. Or did I do selective focus?

When autofocus guesses wrongly, interesting things can happen. I still dislike autofocus for anything that isn't moving, and I miss the old split-image viewfinder ...

This from Beeding Cement Works.

Autofocus with macro. 28-80mm zoom with 1:3.5-4.5 aperture at max. F22 at min. Not water resistant. Manual focus option available depending on camera setting.

I sort of imagine that the eye would bounce between these two focal points under similar circumstances.

The autofocus defeated me here, but the lively fly urged me to release the shutter rather than to fiddle with manual macro focus.

Autofocus is enough to have fun with.

The time where I try autofocus, hand-held. I have a tremor so it's difficult, but I managed. Canon A3000.

Some macro lens fiddling, though I actually auto-focused this one.

Spent half an hour lying on my back on hillside overlooking Duddingston Loch, hypnotised by a kestrel as it returned time n again to hover some 30 feet above my head.
