Happy midsummer from Sweden
About photo:
Mårten Trotzigs gränd (Swedish: "Alley of Mårten Trotzig") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Leading from Västerlånggatan and Järntorget up to Prästgatan and Tyska Stallplan, the width of its 36 steps tapers down to a mere 90 centimetres (35 in), making the alley the narrowest street in Stockholm.
About midsummer:
Midsummer, also known as St John's Day, is the period of time centered upon the summer solstice, and more specifically the Northern European celebrations that accompany the actual solstice or take place on a day between June 19 and June 25 and the preceding evening. The exact dates vary between different cultures. The Christian Church designated June 24 as the feast day of the early Christian martyr St John the Baptist, and the observance of St John's Day begins the evening before, known as St John's Eve.

With all 759-AF points activated, the Sony a1, Bird Eye Autofocus stays locked onto this Canada goose's eye as he wags his head at other goose couples nearby. I should have set shutter speed even higher, at 1/2000-sec, but you can still see that the eye is in focus despite the very fast movement of the head.
Fontaine Saint-Michel, Paris, France.
The Fontaine Saint-Michel is a monumental fountain located in Place Saint-Michel in the 6th arrondissement in Paris. It was constructed in 1858–1860 during the French Second Empire by the architect Gabriel Davioud. It has been listed since 1926 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.
Davioud was himself a trained neoclassical sculptor from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, and the large scale (26 meters by 15 meters) and the elaborate iconography he created for the fountain required the work of nine different sculptors. It features:
Two winged dragons on either side of the fountain by Henri Alfred Jacquemart.
The figure of Saint Michael and the devil by Francisque-Joseph Duret
The rock under Saint Michael by Félix Saupin
Bas-reliefs and ornamental foliage by Marie-Noémi Cadiot
Four statues representing the cardinal virtues:
Statue of Prudence, holding a serpent and a mirror, by Jean-Auguste Barre
Statue of Power, with a lion skin and club, by Claude-Jean Guillaume
Statue of Justice, with a scale and sword, by Louis-Valentin Robert
Statue of Temperance, by Charles-Alphonse Guméry
Statues of Power and Moderation, holding the coat of arms of Paris, by Auguste-Hyacinthe Debay
The fountain was different from most other Paris fountains because it used different colors of stone; columns of red marble from Languedoc; green marble; blue stone from Soignies; yellow stone from Saint-Yllie; and bronze statues.

While I was taking photos of flowers by a lake, a lady stopped her car and told me she had just seen an Alligator snapping turtle along the lakeshore.
I knew this was the largest freshwater turtle in North America...but I had never seen one live and in the wild...so I went to check it out . More photos below ...

Nikon D810 Photos Pro Women's Surfing Van's US Open Sports Photography Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD !
I shot in DX mode which crops away the extra pixels and takes me 1.5X closer while allowing for up to 7 FPS with the Nikon D810's Nikon MB-D12 Battery Grip using the 8 AA battery option! 8 Duracles took me through around 3,000 shots no problem--maybe more! I was shooting at the equivalent of 900mm with the 1.5x crop factor! Pretty close! Had I gone with the Nikon D4s, I would have gotten 12 fps, but no DX crop factor, as the sensor has only around 14mp, compared to the d810's 36 megapixels! Sure the larger pixel size on the Nikon D4s full frame sensor comes in handy indoors or at night, but in the brigth sun, there's more than enough light for the smaller pixels in crop mode! Sure we lose some pixels from the outer edges when shooting in DX crop mode, but most of those pixels would be cropped away in lightroom anyway. And the smaller files make the memory cards last longer, while also upping the FPS to 7 shots per second! Not quite 12 FPS< but still awesome and enough I felt!

Autofocus works pretty well if there isn't anything in front of or behind the subject, but metering is a little trickier. It is much easier to blow out the highlights when you don't have time to manually compensate for the exposure. The shot was taken with a Fujifilm X-T2 using an XF 100-400mm OIS f/4.5~5.6 lens @ 177mm, f/4.8, 1/1800 ISO 400. DSCF9066
A squirrel at a park near to where we live. Cute little fella. I had a bag of nuts with me and he kept pinching them and hiding them in the tree's.
