Oil is brought in procession and donated worldwide to be blessed. The oil lamp is replaced and the new oil is placed within it and lit for the new year of blessed oil. It is then distributed worldwide. This is the authentic blessed oil of St. Philomena.

Plumes of savory smoke rise from a sizzling street-side parrilla, carrying the unmistakable, mouth-watering aroma of authentic Argentine asado through a sun-drenched Buenos Aires neighborhood. A local vendor, clad in a patterned short-sleeve shirt and a dark cap, attentively tends to an impressive spread of char-grilled meats resting over glowing embers. Large, succulent cuts of beef, golden-brown butterflied chicken, and plump chorizos sizzle loudly on the blackened metal grate, showcasing the cornerstone of Argentina's culinary heritage. The photograph is captured under harsh, natural midday sunlight, creating high-contrast scenes where dappled shadows from a nearby tree dance across the concrete sidewalk and the vendor's workspace. A deep depth of field allows the viewer's eye to travel from the sharp, textured details of the meat and the resting carving knife in the immediate foreground, all the way to the textured walls of the adjacent building. Behind the grill, another individual stands near a converted barrel smoker, perhaps a customer eagerly anticipating a hearty choripán or a portion of rich vacio. On the right-hand wall, a painted black sign advertises a variety of community classes—from ceramics and painting to theater and guitar—anchoring this scene deeply within the vibrant, everyday local culture of the city. This impromptu sidewalk kitchen transforms a standard urban thoroughfare into a communal dining space, a hallmark of Buenos Aires' dynamic street life. The rich hues of the caramelized proteins contrast beautifully against the pale, sunlit pavement and the faded green metal of the makeshift grill casing. It is a candid, unpolished glimpse into the gastronomic soul of Argentina, where world-class beef is prepared with rustic, unpretentious mastery. Any restaurant claiming to be "authentic" automatically makes me suspicious. This Cuban Cafe was in Winter Park, and given Florida's proximity to the island, I wouldn't doubt much.
