Literally, the tilam upih is very deep. The mattress is a sleeping mat. Woven leaves that form a mat. From there, the philosophy emerged that the kris tilam upih, as a symbol of happiness, especially family happiness, because life is in harmony, calm and peaceful.

We knew it was a good place since there were Chinese people eating there. However it was the kind of place where whitey was up front and all the Chinese were in the back. They did have huge Tsing Tao bottles, tho. And refused to let me have chopsticks.
We were invited to this family's house as we met them at Chumunda temple. They loved meeting us and were very interested in hearing us sing songs from home.
