National Automobile Museum: The National Automobile Museum (The Harrah Collection) has a “Wow!” factor you don’t often find in a museum. You’ll see more than 200 eye-popping cars with authentic street scenes and sounds. The facades bring displays to life; a hardware store here, a movie theatre there which accompany artifacts from each era. It’s located on the corner of Lake and Mill Streets in downtown Reno.
We are dedicated to offering entertaining and educational experiences through special programs, exhibits, events, and stories about our collections – and sharing history through the timeline of the automobile.
Our Mission is to collect and preserve the automobile for future generations, with an emphasis on vehicles collected by William Fisk “Bill” Harrah, to tell the story of the impact of the automobile on American society, and to perpetuate the legacy of Mr. Harrah as a renowned collector.

Created with authentic Chesapeake Bay, MD sea glass is this stainless steel bottle opener measuring 5 inches in length. Not everyone drinks wine, so I had to make something for the beer drinkers too! I've included some of the rarer sea glass colors in this piece.
A beautifully authentic model ex-Southern Railway 2-BIL in the British Railway livery of my youth ! A great birthday present from Nav, this is a model of the train I used to take to school in the early Seventies. Seen here powering across the coffee table in Wimbledon !
My station was Warblington Halt on the old South Coast line and, although they were also originally put on (amongst others) the semi-fast services on the "Pompey Direct" line, by my time, they were working out their final days on the Portsmouth - Brighton - Hastings services. So, mostly, I took them just one station to Havant before changing; but in my gap year I worked in Southsea, and I had the dubious pleasure of commuting in these. They were already in quite a state by then, but most of them managed to make it to the drab blue British Rail livery - making them look horribly anachronistic - before they were scrapped.
I still have to apply the head code to the front, but that needs research: sadly I cannot remember the old head codes. Or maybe it would be sadder if I could remember such detail ?!
The restaurant moved to the second floor since our last visit. The new space is preppy and fun, with Indian pop music blasting and photo ops every corner of the restaurant entrance. We were the only non-India diners there for lunch. It was a good sign. I'm here for authentic Indian food that I may or may not know about.
Most of the items on the menu I was not familiar with. I noted a few things from Google Map review to try, again no idea what exactly they are. I asked a lot of questions to our server. She was patient and had great suggestions such as we had a yogurt plate so try one plate that’s without yogurt.
We ordered Golgappa shots, Sev Puri (this is the non-yogurt option of the puri family), and a lentil ball yogurt base bowl our server recommended that wasn’t on the menu. Kulfi Falooda was highly recommended by the Google Maps reviews. However I didn’t realize it was a dessert.
None of the stuff we ordered knew what to expect. The Golgappa shots came on a tray of 8 baby Puris placed on top of individual shot glasses. I wasn’t sure how to eat it. ktula demonstrated popping the Puri in his mouth, then took the entire shot of the liquid. Few seconds later he was coughing and struggling to say “it’s very spicy.”
I took the way I assumed it should be - pour the liquid into the Puri before popping it into my mouth. Then finish the remaining liquid in the shot glass. It was quite nice. Full of flavor and just the right amount of everything to be enjoyed in one shot. What a fun and delicious dish that was.
Everything we had there was good. Not only were they tasty, these were beautiful dishes with colors and presentation that made the enjoyment of the food even more exciting.
Kulfi Falooda was a dessert consisting of rose flavor topping with a scope of ice cream of unknown flavor. I like it a lot, except for the thin noodle type of things they added. It’s tough to enjoy because it’s long and just weird. I wish they didn’t put that in there.
After meal, we were given 2 small packets of “mint”. It's not the typical freshener mint in the market. Inside the packet was a few mini Tictac looking candies sprinkled amongst spices and herbs. It carries a familiar smell one would associate with Indian cuisine. Oh how interesting! I’m giving this mint a try. It took a little getting used to but the herbal and spice mix was effective and lasting compared to the Western style mint.

they had the real shaved hair from the people that they killed. the nazi's kept it in the attics of the crematories to dry. it smelled so bad in that room omg. i looked closer and found some braids and almost started crying.

the cool thing about this place is that it is, i assume, 95% identical to the state it was when the kid was growing up there.
