Looking like something out of 'The Day of the Triffids' the plastic 'glazing ' at Liverpool Street is as murky as the City of London's once proud reputation.
Cathedral Arcade is a heritage shopping arcade in Melbourne, Victoria. It forms a short, narrow laneway, connecting Swanston Street to Flinders Lane in the central business district of Melbourne. The arcade is notable as it retains all of its original features. The arcade is fully covered by stained glass and leadlights, which forms a highly detailed arch leading to a central dome. The floors are decorated with ceramic tiles, and the shopfronts feature richly detailed wood panels. The art deco arcade, which dates back to 1925, is part of the Nicholas Building designed by Harry Norris, is an early interwar palazzo skyscraper. The building itself, including the arcade is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
The Hyatt Regency San Francisco’s Embarcadero Atrium is a true architectural marvel, a space where cutting-edge design and the spirit of the 1970s meld seamlessly. Designed by renowned architect John Portman, this atrium boasts the title of the world’s largest when it first opened in 1973. Stepping inside, visitors are greeted by a towering, light-filled space that rises 17 stories, giving an unparalleled sense of scale and grandeur. The cascading floors and geometric lines draw the eye upwards, with glass elevators whisking guests to their rooms in full view of the vast atrium, adding to the dynamic experience.
What makes the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero Atrium so unique is its daring use of concrete and glass, typical of Portman’s Brutalist-meets-futuristic style. The openness of the space gives it a modern, futuristic feel, yet it still remains welcoming thanks to its thoughtful design. You’ll find lush greenery and water features that soften the industrial elements, offering a serene oasis within bustling downtown San Francisco.
Strategically located along the Embarcadero waterfront, this hotel’s central atrium has hosted numerous high-profile events, even appearing in blockbuster films like High Anxiety and The Towering Inferno. It’s also perfectly situated for visitors wanting easy access to iconic San Francisco landmarks, from the Ferry Building just across the street to the nearby Financial District and North Beach.
Stay at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero and experience a legendary piece of San Francisco's architectural history firsthand, while enjoying all the luxury and convenience of a world-class hotel.
Union Station is a Chicago train station that opened in 1925, replacing an earlier 1881 station, and is now the only intercity rail terminal in Chicago. Union Station was built on the west side of the Chicago River and stands between Adams Street and Jackson Street. It is, including approach and storage tracks, about nine and a half city blocks in size, and almost entirely beneath streets and skyscrapers (only its impressive head house is not). Since the station is underground, exhaust from the trains is a problem, which is demonstrated by the dark ceilings in the trainshed. The Chicago Union Station Company, now a subsidiary of Amtrak, owns the station.
histoire :

Naples (Italian: Napoli, Neapolitan: NÃ pule) is a historic city in southern Italy, it is the capital of the Campania region and the province of Naples. The city is noted for its rich history, art, culture and gastronomy, playing an important role throughout much of its existence; it is over 1,500 years old. Naples is located halfway between two volcanic areas, the volcano Mount Vesuvius and the Phlegraean Fields, sitting on the coast by the Gulf of Naples.
Its ancient name was Neapolis, i.e. "new city". Its metropolitan area is the second most populated in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. The city itself in the central area has a population of around 1 million, the inhabitants are known as Neapolitans, (Italian: napoletani) or poetically partenopei. The Historic Centre of Naples is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The Neapolitan language is the geographically most diffuse Italian language, similar variations of the Neapolitan dialect ('o napulitano) are spoken throughout most of southern Italy.
Between 1266 and 1861, Naples was the capital of the Kingdom of Naples (later of the Two Sicilies), usually simply indicated as "the Kingdom", other Italian states having different denominations. This history, coupled with its size, has given Naples the unofficial status of being the capital of the Italian south (Il Mezzogiorno).
In the modern day, the city is served by Naples International Airport at Capodichino, a civil airport hosted by a military one, once outside the city, now surrounded by built up area.
