Het Atrium van het Haags stadhuis, gefotografeerd vanaf de luchtbrug van de 6e verdieping. Wit en strak, de mensen zorgen voor de inkleuring. Mooi ook die reflecties van licht op de wanden links en rechts.

11.2.2016. The impressive covered atrium at the British Museum - the figures look a bit 'Lowry' like to me.

Stitched together 4 shots to get a wide angle effect.

The oldest buildings on this military terrain date back from the mid 19th century. It was built to house the workers of the local rocket factory.

During the time it was used to house the infantry, to hold Russian prisoners of war and was even taken over by the German and Russian forces.

After the wars it was actively used by several infantries but the last soldiers left in the beginning of the 20th century.

And now this place, where tough soldiers lived their lives, remains in peace....

The Atrium is a glass-sided building built over a framework of steel which mirrors the sandstone "pin-wheeling" of the other buildings which make up the rest of Federation Square in Melbourne. Federation Square is, as its' name implies, a public space which was built to coincide with the Centenary of Australian Federation in 2001. Unfortunately, it did not open until 2002, and its' architecture remains the subject of much public debate.

The Atrium itself is a covered area of 90m x 17m which is covered by its' glass and steel roofing, with a cantilevered opening which opens out to the adjoining Flinders Street.

From dusk, the lighting of The Atrium changes colour constantly. making for fascinating viewing.

Best seen on black, so hit the "L" key

Look through a pain of glass from one of the top floors out and down into the Lloyd's Buildings Atrium, made me feel a little dizzy.
