Council continues to support our Financial Assistance Program because it directly benefits local community groups who would not normally qualify for any government assistance.
This year we are distributed $84,689 across 78 projects throughout our community.
Projects range from recreational activities, painting classes, theatre productions and dance and music therapy, to cultural and teaching children environmentally sustainable practices, mental health support groups, support for people with disabilities, and arts programs.
The projects reflect the diversity of community life in our City and support a wide range of issues of concern to Council and our residents.
They are also a sign that as a community, we are working together to ensure that for many people our City of Canterbury is truly a great place to live and work.
Today we are launching our long-awaited Myositis Patient Financial Assistance Program! This program has taken months of work and an enormous amount of fundraising to create. This is the next big step in #MSU providing day-to-day support to #Myositis Patients and improving #MyositisLIFE...and we couldn't have done it without your continued interest, support, and constant sharing of our information. Please see the website for application details and restrictions. Thank you!

@greygirl25
I followed the puppies in training for The Joys of Living Assistance Dogs tonight. They made their way up and down the mall, in and out the doors. This little girl is Janie and she has got to be one of the cutest girls ever. According to her trainer, she’s brilliant.
When she grows up, she’s going to make someone a perfect assistance dog.

Can Do Canines graduated 17 assistance teams at our facility in New Hope on October, 22, 2016. Clients received diplomas in recognition of graduating from Can Do Canines assistance dog program and the dogs received âdoggie diplomasâ (Nylabones). Various breeds of assistance dogs that graduated help people with a variety of disabilities such as diabetes, seizure response, hearing loss, mobility and autism...The Graduation Ceremony represents the culmination of a long journey for the assistance dogs and their partners. Beginning with puppy raisers, either in the homes of volunteers or at one of four Minnesota prisons, the dogs are reared and taught basic obedience and early assistance dog skills. After 18 months, theyâre returned to Can Do Canines for final training and to begin their new life with a person in need, free of charge...For more information visit www.can-do-canines.org
