Active Assignment Weekly May 2-9, 2022 - "Outdoor Signs"

While walking in the forest, I came across this sign, which points to a small well/spring.

WIT: I held the camera above my head, pointing down, to capture both the sign and the stairs. In post processing only basic exposure/contrast/colour adjustments. I disabled the lens correction as otherwise the sign got cropped a bit and I also like the distortion of the post.

Active Assignment Weekly: Sept 20- Sept 27: Sunsets

Your assignment for this week is to shoot landscapes during the golden hour (The first and last hour of daylight). Looking for dramatic colors, not necessarily the sun itself.

DARE: Include the moon.

RESTRICTION; No portraits, humans should not be the main focal point

*****************************************

SO, I don't know if the moon thing was a joke, but the moon was completely to my back when taking this shot, so unless I did some creative photoshop work the dare wasn't happening.

I wanted to try and get a submission in early because I don't know how many sunsets I will see this week.

WIT: I used a fast shutter speed to keep the foreground and tree dark because I wanted the colors to be the focus of this shot. In CS4 cloned out some light spots and tweaked colors slightly :-)

These images are part of working on my diploma assignment, i hope you like! Please leaved feedback and suggestions!

I wanted to combine photography and books in a special way when I remembered that this has already been done before: In more professional ways, than I'll ever achieve. So this is my tribute to the greatest photographers in the world and the pictures of places unknown that they bring to us. I'm grateful and humbled...

Assignment: Negative Space.

Active Assignment Weekly: "Through the eyes of a child"

Can you remember what it’s like to be a child? When you look back, you see those years through rose-colored glasses and it’s all happy memories. Do you watch how your children, nieces and nephews, or friends’ children interact with the world around them? It’s fascinating to watch. This week capture and share an image conveying the world through the eye of a child.

A few ideas: Everything is new, Everyone is a possible friend, You can be anything, The world is full of possibilities, You do things "just because".

WIT: My eight-year old grandson considering his next Scrabble move. The glass table didn't make for great composition, but in the interests of getting a submission in after a long break, I submitted anyway. Cropped but otherwise SOOC. He went on to win the game (with a little help!).

Active Assignment Weekly: June 6-13: Nature's Geometric Shapes

Being an engineer, it has always fascinated me how nature can construct geometric shapes (circles, triangles, pentagons, hexagons... and on and on) so perfectly. We mortal beings must use rulers, compasses, and straight edges to create such things.

For the assignment, photograph a geometric shape created by nature.

There used to be dew on the spider's web, before I got up this morning. So I simply replaced it with a spray mist of water. SOOC. I don't have close up or macro lenses, so this is a close as I could get.

Write a short paragraph describing how you consider young people choose their friends, spouse, and place to live.
